The Hospitality Storeman is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing goods and supplies for the hospitality department. This role ensures that all stock is accurately recorded, properly stored, and readily available when needed to support kitchen operations, catering services, and overall hospitality functions. The Storeman plays a critical role in maintaining inventory control, stock rotation, and ensuring that health, safety, and hygiene standards are consistently met.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Certificate or equivalent (required)
- Certificate in Warehousing, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management (desirable)
- Food Handling Certificate (preferred)
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a storeman or warehousing role within the hospitality, food service, or retail industry
- Experience with inventory management systems or stock control software
- Experience in food storage and stock rotation procedures (preferred)
- Familiarity with receiving and checking deliveries against invoices/purchase orders
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proven ability to manage incoming and outgoing stock, maintain accurate inventory records, and minimize stock loss through effective tracking and rotation systems (e.g., FIFO/LIFO).
- Familiarity with common food, beverage, and consumables used in the hospitality industry, including perishables and dry goods.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, hygiene, and food safety protocols in line with local regulations (e.g., HACCP standards).
- Ability to keep storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety and fire regulations.
- Skilled in checking deliveries for accuracy, quality, and quantity, and identifying damaged or missing items.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic office software (Excel, email, POS or ERP systems).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, especially during busy delivery and service times.
- Strong numeracy skills for counting stock, reconciling inventory, and recording data accurately.
- Proactive in identifying stock discrepancies or supply issues and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Able to work closely with chefs, purchasing officers, and other hospitality staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjusting to varying operational demands.
- Competent in maintaining stock records, delivery notes, invoices, and daily logs for audit and operational use.
- When dealing with internal departments or external vendors, demonstrates professionalism and efficiency.
