Job Purpose

The Zoo Educator in
Emirates Park Zoo
is responsible for educating and assisting the public by delivering accurate animal-related information through live shows, school orientations, face-to-face interactions, and organized educational events. The role supports the zoo's mission of promoting conservation, animal welfare, and environmental awareness while enhancing visitor experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Educate visitors about zoo animals, ecosystems, conservation, and animal welfare to promote protection of flora and fauna.
  • Conduct educational programs through
    formal methods
    (lectures, guided tours, presentations) and
    informal methods
    (answering visitor questions and discussions).
  • Engage with schools and general visitors by providing information about
    Emirates Park Zoo
    and its animal collection.
  • Present live animal shows and in-situ educational demonstrations for schools and visitors.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, nutritionists, trainers, zoo keepers, and other staff to stay updated on animal care, behavior, and zoo activities.
  • Contribute to and conduct
    ex-situ educational presentations and exhibitions
    to increase public awareness and interest in wildlife conservation, which may include handling live animals where trained and permitted.
  • Prepare educational materials such as posters, brochures, banners, workbooks, presentations, and handouts.
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve issues politely, accurately, and professionally.
  • Answer visitor questions and interact in a welcoming manner that encourages repeat visits.
  • Engage with volunteers and interns to support educational objectives and zoo goals.
  • Assist, when required, in producing educational videos, photography, and multimedia presentations for promotional and educational use.
  • Educate visitors on proper animal feeding practices to ensure animal health and welfare.
  • Conduct Educator Talks in various zoo areas, including the Petting Zoo, Monkey Area, Giraffe Area, Animal Paradise, and Domestic Animal Area.
  • Provide meaningful experiences that help visitors understand the environmental impact of human actions, both positive and negative.
  • Assist during emergency incidents involving animals or visitors when required.
  • Support animal observation activities to help monitor animal health and wellbeing when needed.

Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Training

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Natural Sciences, Education, Communications, Zoology, Biology, Animal Science
    , or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to adapt content for different age groups and learning abilities.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • High level of self-confidence and professionalism.
  • Punctual, well-groomed, and professional in appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and remain alert for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • No known allergies to animals.

Salary:- Starting Aed 2,500 - Aed 4,000
