Quality Control for Camp Construction

Location in Iraq

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Control. The successful candidate will be focuses on ensuring all aspects of the temporary or permanent living facilities—from civil and structural work to basic utilities and finishes—adhere to established safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role is vital for providing a safe, functional, and compliant living environment for project personnel.

Key Responsibilities

· Site Inspections: Conduct regular, detailed inspections of all construction activities related to the camp facilities, including foundational work, structural framing, roofing, interior finishes (painting, tiling, ceiling, etc.), and utility installations (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).

· Standards and Compliance: Ensure all construction practices and materials meet relevant building codes, local regulations, and project-specific specifications, which may include standards for hygiene and safety in camp environments.

· Material Verification: Inspect all incoming materials and equipment (e.g., building materials, accommodation units, kitchen/laundry equipment, electrical components) to verify they conform to approved submittals and quality standards.

· Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive quality records, daily inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action logs. Compile final quality documentation dossiers for project handover.

· Non-Conformance Management: Identify any deviations or defects, report them promptly, and collaborate with construction teams and subcontractors to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

· Testing and Measuring: Oversee or perform necessary on-site testing (e.g., concrete slump/compression tests, electrical continuity tests, pressure testing of plumbing systems) and ensure all testing and measuring equipment is calibrated.

· Subcontractor Oversight: Monitor the quality of work performed by subcontractors and vendors, ensuring their quality control plans and procedures align with project requirements.

· Safety and Health: Coordinate with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to ensure that all quality activities are conducted safely and that quality standards also contribute to the overall health and safety of the camp residents.

· Auditing: Participate in internal and external quality management system (QMS) audits to assess compliance and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Skills

· Bachelor's degree

· Proven experience in procurement, preferably in the oil & gas industry.

· In‐depth knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.

· Familiarity with oil and gas equipment, materials, and services.

· Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem‐solving skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

· Proficiency in using procurement software/tools and MS Office Suite.

· Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

· Understanding of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.

· Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality control role within general construction or camp/facilities construction projects.

· Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of general building codes, construction methods, and industry-specific quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).

Skills:

· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

· Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Familiarity with quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
