Job Title: QC Chemist

We are seeking a detail-oriented QC Chemist with 2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. The candidate should hold a Diploma/Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and possess certification in hazardous materials handling. The role is responsible for ensuring product quality, process compliance, and safety through routine testing, inspections, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quality control tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished chemical products.
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and instrumental analysis as per approved test methods and SOPs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, especially while handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Document test results accurately and maintain QC records, COAs, and batch release documentation.
  • Assist during internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing required quality documentation.
  • Perform material inspection and sampling to verify compliance with specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare and maintain non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with production and process teams to identify quality issues and support process improvements.
  • Monitor, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure proper chemical storage and labeling.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ensure adherence to SOPs at all times.

Laboratory & Instrumentation Knowledge (Mandatory)

The candidate should have hands-on or working knowledge of the following instruments and techniques (depending on product line):

  • Analytical Instruments:
  • pH meter
  • UV–Visible Spectrophotometer
  • FTIR (basic interpretation preferred)
  • Gas Chromatography (GC) / HPLC (theoretical or practical exposure)
  • Physical Testing Equipment:
  • Analytical balance
  • Moisture analyzer / Karl Fischer (if applicable)
  • Viscometer
  • Density meter / Hydrometer
  • Wet Chemical Analysis:
  • Titration techniques (acid-base, redox)
  • Preparation of standard solutions and reagents
  • General QC Tools:
  • Calibration of instruments
  • Handling of reference standards
  • Data recording and trend analysis

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma/Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in Quality Control or Inspection within a chemical manufacturing industry
  • Certifications:
  • Hazardous Materials Handling Certification (OSHA / HAZWOPER or equivalent)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of chemical processes and QC methodologies
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and hazardous material handling
  • Familiarity with SOPs, MSDS/SDS, and regulatory documentation
  • Good analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or similar quality management systems
  • Exposure to chemical audits and regulatory inspections
  • Experience in continuous improvement or root cause analysis

Work Environment

  • Chemical manufacturing plant / QC laboratory
  • Use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols mandatory
  • Shift-based work may be required
