We are seeking a high-calibre Principal Data Engineer to join our client's team in Abu Dhabi. This pivotal role requires a strategic, hands-on leader to design and optimize the core data infrastructure powering advanced analytics and AI across their investment functions.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of hands-on data engineering experience, with at least 4 years directly within the Investment or Asset Management industry.
  • Education: Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (CS, Engineering, AI, Math) is highly preferred.
  • Technical Stack: Mandatory expertise in Azure Data Services (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks) and Snowflake (warehousing/lakehouse).
  • Architecture: Proven experience designing and implementing medallion architecture (bronze-silver-gold layering).

The Opportunity

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be a technical visionary responsible for end-to-end platform stability and innovation.

Main Duties

  • Architect and implement modern, cloud-native data platforms using Azure and Snowflake, focusing on scalable, high-performance data delivery.
  • Lead the design and implementation of medallion architecture to ensure data quality, structure, and accessibility for investment teams.
  • Build and optimize robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows, embedding DataOps and MLOps principles for automation and governance.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding the platform roadmap, and integrating best-of-breed data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Purview).
