Position Overview

The Senior Commercial Director will lead procurement, commercial negotiations, and manufacturing coordination for telecom and electricity infrastructure products including routers, switches, cabinets, poles, and related hardware. The role requires fluency in Mandarin and English and acts as a key bridge between UAE/UK engineering teams and Chinese manufacturing partners to ensure accurate communication, quality production, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and commercial strategy for telecom, electrical, and networking infrastructure components.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and long‑term contracts with Chinese factories, OEM/ODM partners, and suppliers.
  • Communicate engineering designs and technical specifications accurately to Chinese manufacturers.
  • Serve as the main translator and liaison between engineering teams and factory production units.
  • Oversee manufacturing processes, QA/QC, tooling, and compliance with product specifications.
  • Conduct factory audits and supplier capability assessments.
  • Coordinate production schedules, manage delays, and resolve quality issues.
  • Support design-to-manufacturing alignment for in‑house engineered products.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier pricing, and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Prepare commercial reports, negotiation summaries, and procurement dashboards.
  • Develop long‑term sourcing and supply chain strategies across UAE, UK, and China.
  • Manage procurement and manufacturing support teams where applicable.

Technical & Commercial Skills

  • Strong understanding of telecom and electrical infrastructure products (routers, switches, cabinets, poles).
  • Expertise in procurement, strategic sourcing, and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience with Chinese OEM/ODM manufacturing, PCB assembly, tooling, and QA/QC.
  • Ability to interpret BOMs, and technical specifications.
  • Experience resolving supplier and production issues with Chinese factories.
  • Strong commercial acumen and cost‑reduction strategy experience.

Experience

  • 10+ years senior experience in procurement, commercial management, or manufacturing oversight.
  • Mandatory experience working directly with Chinese factories.
  • Background in telecom, networking hardware, electronics manufacturing, or electrical infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in high‑value negotiations and large‑scale global sourcing.
  • Experience coordinating engineering‑to‑manufacturing communication across borders.

Soft Skills

  • Fluent Mandarin and English communication (mandatory).
  • Strong intercultural communication and liaison skills.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
  • High attention to detail with strong ability to prevent miscommunication.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related fields.

Certifications such as CIPS, PMP, or Six Sigma are an advantage.

Salary

Competitive — based on experience, location (UAE or China), and qualifications.
