We're looking for someone who has already done it.

This is not a generic fintech architecture role. We are seeking a
hands-on technical leader (CTO / Founding Architect)
who has
personally built and launched a retail mobile trading or investing app under UAE financial regulation,
ideally
SCA or VARA
.

If you have not led a
UAE-licensed retail trading platform
from
architecture through go-live
, this role is not the right fit.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the
    end-to-end technical build and launch
    of a
    mobile-first trading platform
    for retail investors in the UAE.
  • Own the
    architecture, development, regulatory tech stack, and security
    from MVP to scale.
  • Work closely with the CEO, regulatory advisors, and product leadership to align tech delivery with
    SCA/VARA regulatory frameworks
    .
  • Build and scale an in-house engineering team while managing external vendors where needed (e.g., KYC/AML, data feeds, payment rails).
  • Ensure the platform meets UAE licensing requirements (KYC, AML, transaction monitoring, reporting) and global security standards (PCI DSS, ISO, etc.).
  • Lead integrations with
    market data providers
    ,
    liquidity partners
    ,
    payment gateways
    , and
    custodians
    .

Required experience (Non-Negotiable):

  • Built and launched
    a
    live, customer-facing mobile trading or investing app
    (iOS and/or Android).
  • App was launched under a
    UAE regulatory license;
    SCA, VARA, or equivalent local framework.
  • Hands-on architecture and backend leadership (Java, Go, Python, , or similar).
  • Deep familiarity with
    KYC/AML integrations
    ,
    UAE fintech compliance
    , and working with regulators.
  • Experience leading or scaling engineering teams in a fintech startup or regulated financial institution.
  • Strong background in
    real-time trading infrastructure
    (APIs, FIX/WebSockets, liquidity integrations).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with both
    traditional and digital asset
    trading environments.
  • Track record of scaling platforms from MVP to thousands of daily active users.
  • Experience working in
    multi-regional licensing environments
    (e.g., VARA + DIFC + offshore VASP).
  • Knowledge of wallet architecture, tokenization, or HFT systems is a plus.
