Job Title: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Consultant

Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) / Industrial Hygiene

Location: Remote (reporting to Abu Dhabi Office), yet will be required to travel

to internationally for Projects

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

The CIH Consultant will provide expert guidance in anticipating, recognizing,

evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards to ensure employee

protection and regulatory compliance. The consultant will plan and conduct exposure

assessments, interpret monitoring results, and recommend effective control

strategies in alignment with international standards such as OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH,

UK HSE, ADNOC and ISO 45001 / Project Philosophies & Standards / Local Labour

Laws.

Key Responsibilities

 Conduct qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene assessments

including but not limited to air, noise, heat stress, chemical, ergonomic and

biological monitoring.

 Develop and implement sampling strategies based on process evaluations

and risk assessments.

 Evaluate and interpret exposure monitoring data using relevant occupational

exposure limits (OELs) and carry out the required statistics.

 Prepare detailed reports and recommendations on exposure controls

(engineering, administrative, PPE).

 Support clients with regulatory compliance (OSHA / UK HSE / ISO, local

labor laws).

 Develop and deliver training sessions on occupational hygiene topics such

as chemical safety, respiratory protection, ergonomics, and IAQ.

 Provide technical expertise during HAZID, OHID, HFE and HAZOP

workshops.

 Advise on respiratory protection programs, PPE selection, and fit testing

requirements.

 Participate in audits, investigations, and risk assessments to identify and

mitigate potential occupational health risks.

 Support data analysis and trend reporting to track exposure reduction and

control effectiveness.

 Develop Risk Based Health Surveillance Plans

 Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Safety, Environmental, Medical,

Engineering).

 Assist with other Health & Safety Projects

Qualifications and Experience

 Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial

Hygiene (ABIH / BGC) – mandatory.

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health,

Occupational Safety, or a related field.

 Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial hygiene consulting or within oil

& gas / petrochemical sector

 Proven experience in exposure assessment, IH program development,

and regulatory compliance.

 Familiarity with international standards: OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, ISO 45001.

 Strong technical writing, analytical, and data interpretation skills.

 Proficiency in IH data management and statistical analysis tools (e.g., EASE,

IHSTAT, Excel).

Preferred Skills

 Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, pharmaceutical, or

semiconductor industries.

 Knowledge of ergonomics and human factors engineering.

 Excellent communication and client presentation skills.

 Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
