The Chief Control Officer (CCO) role is an independent control function within Global Private Banking (GPB) which provides oversight and supervision of key risks and internal controls. The CCO is central to evaluating key control performance in partnership with Operations functional management. CCO team has strong ties to GPB Operational Risk and partners "support functions" with them to ensure that there is a joined up and forward-looking view of risk management.

Key responsibilities therefore include:

• Assisting with the implementation of the Target Operating Model within Global Private Bank - ensuring the Private Banking teams are appropriately focused on risk issues, mitigation thereof and that the related controls are robust.
• Development and oversight of the CCO activities within the immediate business area and providing guidance to Tier 2/Tier 3 Risk Managers / contact persons in the region on the implementation of the framework.
• Oversight and Co-ordination of the Annual RCA refresh exercise and Control Monitoring Plans.
• Oversight of Management for Key Control Monitoring/Sampling
• Oversight of the tracking, analysis and reporting of the CCO Team's internal control testing including site visits in the region.
• Maintaining Private Banking/HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
• Engaging with GPB and entity Risk and Control and Compliance teams on projects, risk activities and/or new initiatives as they arise, as required.
• Maintaining the accuracy of relevant CCO related databases (principally HELIOS) including technical group updates and user administration.
• Leading the production of Quarterly Business Control Committee (BCC) and Risk Management Committee (RMC) Packs, in conjunction with the Group GPB Risk and Control stakeholders.
• Leading, developing and guiding the regional CCO / contact person's representatives from Private Banking from the Tier 2/3 Sites through communication, feedback on performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices. 
• Cultivating an environment that reflects Private Banks implementation and embedding of the CCO and Risk Management Framework as an integral activity in its first line of defense.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• In-depth experience in Global Private Banking, Audit and/or Risk Management
• Advanced knowledge in internal control, compliance, banking operations, risk management – credit, operational and information risk management
• Extensive knowledge of Bank practices and products
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of internal control standards and best practices in operational risk management
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Sound ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet scheduled deadlines
• Observe high standards of professional conduct in the performance of duties
• Graduation degree is a must to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit
• Under the New Labour Law, only fixed term contracts shall be available to all employees of HSBC UAE (except DIFC and ADGM employees) – hence in line with the term of work permit, a 4 years' contract would be issued.
