Structural Design Engineer – Steel Structures (SAP2000 / IDEA StatiCa)

About Us:

ABT Steel Contracting LLC is a leading steel construction company operating across the UAE and KSA, specializing in primary and secondary steel structures, mezzanines, industrial buildings, architectural steel, and complex support systems. We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer with proven expertise in SAP2000 and IDEA StatiCa to join our engineering team and support our ongoing and upcoming steel structure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures, frames, and connections using SAP2000 and IDEA StatiCa.
  • Prepare and validate design calculations, ensuring compliance with relevant international and local codes (AISC, BS, EN, etc.).
  • Coordinate with project engineers, draftsmen, and fabrication teams to ensure design intent is properly executed on site.
  • Develop connection design reports and assist in optimizing steel member sizes for cost and performance.
  • Review fabrication and erection drawings to confirm design accuracy.
  • Support in preparation of method statements, material submittals, and technical reports as needed.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal management for design approvals and technical clarifications.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in steel structure design and detailing.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP2000 and IDEA StatiCa (experience in Tekla Structures or AutoCAD is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of structural analysis principles, load combinations, and steel connection behavior.
  • Familiarity with fabrication and erection processes in steel construction.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
