Job Purpose:

The Manager Operational Risk will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the bank's Operational Risk Management Framework in alignment with the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) regulations, Basel guidelines, and international best practices. This role ensures that operational risks are effectively identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated across all business units, fostering a robust risk culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Risk Framework Implementation:
  • Develop and enforce the bank's operational risk policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with industry standards.
  • Risk Identification and Assessment:
  • Conduct regular Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across various departments to identify potential operational risks and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
  • Incident Management:
  • Oversee the reporting and analysis of operational risk incidents, ensuring timely investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Key Risk Indicators (KRIs):
  • Develop and monitor KRIs to provide early warning signals of increasing risk exposures and ensure proactive risk management.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to CBUAE guidelines and other relevant regulatory requirements, preparing and submitting necessary reports and documentation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with business units to promote awareness and understanding of operational risk, providing guidance and support in risk-related matters.
  • Training and Development:
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance the operational risk awareness and capabilities of staff across the bank.
  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP):
  • Support the development and maintenance of the bank's BCP, ensuring preparedness for potential operational disruptions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or equivalent are preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational risk management within the banking or financial services sector, with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
  • Skills:
  • Proficient in risk assessment methodologies, incident analysis, and control evaluation. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.

  • Language Proficiency:
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
  • Nationality:
  • This position is open exclusively to UAE Nationals, in alignment with the bank's commitment to Emiratization and national talent development.
