JOB PURPOSE:

To service and maintain all Casting and Furnace equipment/tooling used for the production of the Recycling Cast House products. To relieve CTS supervisor during his leave or when absent.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Assists his supervisor in planning and organizing, achieving required targeted results in line with EGA procedures.
  • Aids the Senior Superintendent in ensuring that all safety and environment policies, practices and procedures are rigidly adhered to minimise the risk of accident, injury and equipment damage.
  • Supports Senior Superintendent in ensuring of perfect housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained throughout the CTS workshops.
  • Works closely with the Senior Superintendent in supporting management and safety department in identifying the key areas for implementing and improving safety aspects.
  • Receives daily instructions from his supervisor with regards to the priorities and actions required. Refers to the standard practices manuals and complies with the safety standards in accordance with the established safety procedure and works as a reliever to the supervisor during his leave or absence.
  • Remains fully aware of EGA Certified Quality, Safety, Environment standards and assists Senior Superintendent in maintaining all CTS related records.
  • Carries out daily morning routine check with Senior Technician process control to all Cast house degassers, tables, filter boxes, launders and other related equipment and reports any issues to his supervisor to take the necessary actions.
  • Completes overhauling and repairs of any casting tooling related to VDC, and other related equipment. Checks and tests them before issuance to casting operations and makes available as per production schedule.

  • Calibrates and conducts tests on individual mould table parts and rectifies problems to put the tooling in perfect condition.
  • Plans and Prepares / refurbishes used moulds and conducts thorough inspection and evaluation of the condition of all functional parts. Rectifies problems and repairs major parts, including the mould body if possible that saves substantial cost and downtimes.
  • Assists casting operations and maintenance crew in troubleshooting and rectifies problems in casting tooling used in process.
  • Monitors Argon, Chlorine and nitrogen supply to the casting units and attends calls to rectify problems of Argon, Chlorine and Nitrogen mass flow control unit with area IMD. Monitors and replaces rotors in the degassing units and arranges to Prepare and reline degassing vessels.
  • Provides support to the section Technician, completes proper installation, calibration and maintenance of all tooling and related equipment's that are used in casting particularly in extrusion billet and T-bars,
  • Provides support to the section Technician for ensuring proper installation, calibration and maintenance of all tooling and related equipment's that are used in casting particularly in extrusion billet and T-bar casting process
  • Supports by providing that all lifting tackles used in all Cast houses are controlled effectively and inspected regularly as required.
  • Checks and provides list of consumables requirements used in casting operations and casting technical services and submit list to area planner for withdrawal.
  • Records all activities done on the casting tooling, launders, and degasser vessels for maintaining a good history.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12th grade High School Certificate or equivalent plus two years industrial work experience

OR

  • Successful completion of PEC Smelter training programme for UAE Nationals
  • Completion of training modules specified for Senior Technician

Minimum Experience:

  • Completed one (1) years' service as Technician

Skills:

  • Full understanding of the requirements of Safety, Quality & Environment Management Standards with respect to his work and have attended formal introductory training.
  • He should have numerical and writing skills that will enable the job holder to prepare check list/feedback report in English.
