System engineer

Please note: You will be deployed to Ethiopia for a period of 18 months as part of the project.

System Engineer - Server & Storage
to manage and support enterprise-grade data center infrastructure, including both physical and virtual environments. This role is critical for ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of storage, virtualization, and server infrastructure, supporting business applications and services. The candidate will work across various storage technologies, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and disaster recovery solutions in both private and public cloud environments.

Key responsibilities:

• Implementation and  administration of  the  networked storage infrastructure and interconnected systems, capacity planning, and performance analysis and troubleshoot of storage systems.
• Utilize the capacity management tool set to perform workload sizing for new and existing applications.
• Manage, troubleshoot and Support infrastructure solutions like Virtualization, Servers and
• Storages to support business applications.
• Plan and evaluate Infrastructure Hosting, Storage and Backup requirements.
• Support the implementation of hardware and software upgrades and analyze the impact of new technologies on processor and peripheral utilization and performance.
• Construct capacity plans, develop capacity reports, oversee Infrastructure and storage capacity and performance data, and conduct capacity management audits.
• Support disaster recovery sizing activities.
• Troubleshoot Develop and Integrate Storage Attached Network (SAN) Storage troubleshoot, configuration, integration including but not limited to HPE and EMC storage solutions.
• Troubleshoot the High available and resilient infrastructure for data hosting
• Troubleshoot, Develop and Operate High Availability/ Disaster Recovery (HA/DR).
• Solutions management to configure, integrate, and support virtualization, systems, and appliance storage. Complete tasks associated with Fiber Channel, IP Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), Network Attached Storage (NAS) troubleshoot, configuration, integration with switching fabric.
• Leading projects to meet business requirements and enhancing infrastructure.
• Execute installation and integration of storage device, system, and components.
• Perform tasks associated with application networking ports and protocols, Information Assurance (IA), routing and Local Area Network (LAN).
• Execute tasks associated with storage security troubleshoot and management.
• Perform storage troubleshoot supporting Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS), Exchange and Structured Query Language (SQL) and storage integration utilizing Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), quota distribution and file sharing. Troubleshoot, Develop and Operate storage integration with virtualization (specifically but not limited to VMware and Hyper-V).
• Perform storage integration and installation on various server hardware. Perform an extensive evaluation of the existing backup and storage infrastructure; this will also include the evaluation of other solutions and summary of results/recommendations.
• Troubleshoot, configure, and manage the backup and storage infrastructure.
• Technical knowledge HCI environment like Nutanix. Knowledge of object-based storages.
• Manage between datacenters. Understanding of Private or Public cloud platform for solution troubleshooting

Education/ Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree Computer Science or related field.
• VMware VCP-DCV, Huawei, HPE, Dell, Lenovo, Nutanix NCP, Citrix CCA, ITIL or similar

Work Experience:

• 8 years of Server & Storage Engineer experience.
• Experience with Huawei X fusion servers, Huawei storage, VMware, HPE, Dell Server's Storage, HPE, Veeam backup, SAN Switches and related tools such as: Data FabricManager, vRops, and PowerShell.

Knowledge:

• Strong Hands-on knowledge in Datacenter management.
• Sound in Server & Storage Technologies
• Sound in DC virtualization/Private cloud environment
• Understanding about Virtual networking/load balancer.
