Job Title: Chef de Partie

Reports To: Sous Chef / Head Chef

Job Summary:

The Chef de Partie is responsible for managing a specific kitchen section and ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. This role requires strong technical skills, discipline, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for an assigned kitchen section (e.g., hot, cold, grill, pastry).
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure mise en place is prepared and maintained for service.
  • Supervise and support Commis Chefs and kitchen assistants within the section.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and organization in compliance with HACCP.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and wastage.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and proper storage of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with Sous Chef and Head Chef on menu execution and daily operations.
  • Ensure equipment is used correctly and maintained in good condition.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Demi Chef de Partie ready for promotion.
  • Solid understanding of classical and modern cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work under pressure during service.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with basic leadership ability.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen safety standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Culinary diploma or relevant professional training preferred.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a professional kitchen, depending on operation level.
