Site Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Project / Site Engineer will be responsible for the on-site execution, supervision, and technical management of construction activities for our real estate development projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines within the United Arab Emirates regulatory framework. This role acts as a crucial link between the project management team, internal stakeholders, design consultants, and on-site contractors / subcontractors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Site Management and Supervision:

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring the work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality.

• Act as the main technical advisor on site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and other stakeholders.

• Monitor construction progress against the approved project schedule, identifying and reporting any potential delays or deviations.

• Manage site logistics, including resource allocation (manpower, equipment, and materials) to optimize productivity.

2. Technical Interpretation and Quality Control:

• Accurately interpret and implement engineering drawings, architectural blueprints, technical specifications, and design documents.

• Ensure that all construction works adhere strictly to approved engineering designs, local municipality codes (e.g., DM, SM, DCD, SCD, etc), and international industry standards.

• Conduct regular quality control inspections and tests on materials and workmanship, preparing and obtaining sign-offs for Material Approval Reports (MARs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs).

• Carry out Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) in line with the QA/QC plan.

3. Coordination and Communication:

• Liaise and coordinate effectively with Project Managers, Architects, Design Consultants, subcontractors (Civil, MEP, Finishing), and suppliers.

• Facilitate necessary site access and approvals for works, materials, and inspections.

• Address and resolve technical and logistical problems that arise on the construction site in a timely manner.

• Communicate project updates, site issues, and technical clarifications to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and detailed daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports, photographic records, and work logs.

• Assist the Project Manager in tracking project milestones and preparing progress documentation for client/stakeholder reviews.

• Ensure all necessary project documentation, including as-built drawings and operation manuals, are accurately prepared and compiled for handover.

5. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

• Implement, monitor, and enforce all company and regulatory Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures on site.

• Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks to ensure a safe working environment and mitigate risks.

• Ensure the site team and subcontractors are fully compliant with the safety management plan.

QUALIFICATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

• 5–8 years of proven experience as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer, specifically within the UAE real estate or high-rise building construction sector.

• Specific experience in finishing works and fit-out for real estate projects is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of local UAE building codes, regulations, and authority submission/approval processes (e.g., DM, DDA, Civil Defense).

SKILLS:

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).

• Competency in reading and interpreting engineering plans using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.

• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, equipment, and quality control procedures.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent leadership, team management, and organizational skills.

• Strong communication (written and verbal in English is essential; Arabic is a plus) and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated ability to think critically, solve problems under pressure, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety compliance.
