Job Title: XR Training Developer — Industrial & Safety Training (1 Position)

About the job

We are seeking a pragmatic and creative XR Training Developer to design, build and deploy immersive industrial and safety training experiences (AR/VR/MR) for field technicians and operators. You will work with subject-matter experts, safety officers, and operations teams to turn real-world procedures into effective, measurable XR learning modules that reduce risk, shorten onboarding time, and improve compliance. This is a hands-on role that spans instructional design, 3D/interactive development, and field validation.

Responsibilities

Translate industrial procedures and safety curricula into clear learning objectives and immersive scenarios.

Architect and build XR training modules using Unity or Unreal Engine for headsets (HoloLens, Quest, Magic Leap) and mobile AR (ARKit/ARCore).

Create interactive 3D scenes, procedural animations, tool simulations, and staged failure scenarios to train decision-making and hands-on skills.

Implement assessment and feedback mechanisms (in-experience scoring, checklists, telemetry capture) to measure competence and compliance.

Integrate XR modules with LMS or reporting backends (SCORM/xAPI, web APIs) to track learner progress and generate training reports.

Optimize experiences for performance, low latency, and reliable tracking in industrial environments (lighting, reflective surfaces, noisy RF).

Work with IoT/telemetry teams to surface live equipment data inside XR for realistic diagnostics and remote-assist workflows.

Run pilot sessions and usability testing with technicians; collect field feedback and iterate on content and UX.

Produce clear documentation, instructor guides, and quick-reference materials for trainers and operations teams.

Support deployment, device provisioning, and OTA updates for distributed headset fleets; troubleshoot on-site as needed.

Qualifications

3+ years experience developing XR/interactive 3D applications (Unity or Unreal) with a portfolio of delivered projects.

Strong programming skills in C# (Unity) or C++/Blueprints (Unreal) and experience with shaders, animations, and physics-based interactions.

Practical experience building for at least one headset platform (Meta Quest, HoloLens, Magic Leap) and mobile AR (ARKit/ARCore).

Solid understanding of instructional design principles for skills training and assessment (learning objectives, scenario-based learning, formative/summative assessment).

Familiarity with 3D asset pipelines (Blender/Maya/3ds Max), optimization techniques (LODs, lightmaps, occlusion), and performance profiling.

Experience integrating XR content with backend systems / LMS (xAPI/SCORM) and capturing learning telemetry.

Excellent verbal and written communication; able to collaborate with non-technical SMEs and translate procedures into interactive tasks.

Comfortable conducting field pilots and iterating based on real-world constraints and user feedback.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Instructional Design, Multimedia, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

Prior experience in industrial, energy, or maintenance training (UPS, battery systems, heavy machinery).

Knowledge of remote-assist platforms and multi-user XR collaboration patterns.

Experience with 3D scanning / photogrammetry and integrating reality-capture assets.

Familiarity with safety/regulatory training standards and certifications.

Experience with cloud device management, MDM, and OTA workflows for headset fleets.
