Senior Mechanical Engineer

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:

The senior mechanical engineer shall be responsible for reviewing of design of the mechanical items in the buildings and ensure that engineering design is compliant with company's requirements & all relevant national and international rules and regulations.

Supervise / monitor execution of the mechanical part of the projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on national and international codes and standards, health and safety in the design submitted by consultants, shop drawings by contractor and site quality requirements / HSE in the execution stage with consideration to the contract requirements and specification.

• Senior Mechanical engineers need to be able to project manage and multitask Mechanical parts of projects, also required to have commercial awareness. Additional attributes, such as team leadership or management skills.
• Coordinate and be responsible for the mechanical engineering drawings and specifications on multiple projects.
• Review Technical Specifications done by consultant in the initiation stage of the project and ensure matching with FCW requirements.
• Ensure that contractor, sub-contractor, supervision consultant is implementing the relevant Company's system with policy and procedures.
• Ensure contractors / consultants compliance with requirement, operational quality Manual & guidelines.
• Review all detailed engineering design calculations; ensure the compliance with FCW requirements and compliance with Authority requirements.
• Review Mechanical design of fire protection and process piping systems and ensure compliance with UAE's DCD standards / codes of practice.
• supervise execution of Mechanical engineering parts of projects of various sizes and complexity
• Carry out vendor data reviews and review supervision consultant comments and recommendations for Mechanical equipment
• Coordinate with contractor / sub-contractors – supervision consultant in the mechanical parts of the projects to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects to meet or exceed company's expectations
• Provide the senior construction engineer / technical manager with various status reports required.
• Supervise / monitor / ensure compliance with contract specifications and contract requirements for the following (if any):
• Centrifugal Chillers / Compressor systems and dryers / Boiler and burners / Water treatment / AHU / Ventilation systems / Catering Equipment / Cooling towers / General Mechanical Systems / HSE Refrigerant program manager / FM200 / all firefighting and fire alarm systems.
• Provide technical support (to contractor or consultant when required) and root cause analyses on all corrective action for maintenance and project commissioning / integration activities.
• Review Mechanical shop drawings submitted by contractor and commented by supervision consultant and ensure approval of shop drawings are complying with contract specifications / Authority requirements and maintain record for all the submittals.
• Inspect samples provided by contractor as per FCW's procedures; ensure quality best quality for material provided.
• Initiate or give official request to supervision consultant to initiate corrective and preventive actions for Mechanical part of the project when non-compliance found in material provided / installation / non-compliance with Authority requirements & standards / non- compliance with any of FCW's Manuals / system with policies & procedures / or approved contractor's project plans related,etc. at the construction site.
• Senior Mechanical Engineer shall lead on all outsourced maintenance activities, plan audits and risk assessments.
• In general, shall be responsible for supervising / monitoring Contractor's installation of all mechanical services, coordination of services and sub-contractors on site, reviewing and commenting of drawing / documentation / submittals to all parties, dealing with RFI's with supervision consultant and collecting all data's required for the daily and the weekly progress report and support the senior construction engineer / technical mangers in reports required.
• Qualifications
• Graduation as a mechanical engineer with minimum experience of 15 years. working in UAE for at least 8 years is mandatory.
• Must have a good knowledge of BS / AC standards national codes, DEWA standard and project requirements experiences.
• Require experience and understanding of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems
• Consulting engineering background is a must.

• Mechanical and Electrical coordination experience

• Physical requirements

• The employee will need to move around on the job-site, including maneuvering around construction site obstacles and hiking the landscape in various weather conditions, including heat, rain sometimes while lifting and / or moving equipment.
