Role Summary

The purpose of the role of Manager Aerodrome Certification is to manage the Aerodrome Certifications team in the strategic delivery of the GCAA regulatory and AD Airports internal certification function. The role ensures that resources and in place and deployed effectively to ensure that all; service delivery, operational processes, safety and compliance meet's and whenever possible exceeds, the regulatory requirements.

The Manager will work closely with the GCAA as regulatory body, and cross-functional teams, including AD Airports senior management, to develop the and implement strategies that meet regulatory compliance, supports the reduction of operational risks, and improves service delivery.

Major Areas of Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive certification strategies and plans for all AD Airports, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyse non-conformance trends and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas of improvement and take corrective actions.
  • Review and update the airport's Quality Management System (QMS) with Aerodrome Certification documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Ensure operational compliance with safety, security, and operational regulations by reviewing processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of processes, identify gaps, and ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Maintain theirs and the team's competence, regarding GCAA regulatory requirements and AD Airports operational processes, to ensure each of the airport's compliance.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on quality metrics, audit results, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions, providing insights and recommendations for improvement to senior management.
  • Identify hazards and associated risks related to GCAA regulatory requirements, their operational, safety, and service delivery impact, ensuring that risk mitigation measures are implemented and effective.
  • Implement a robust process for identifying non-conformance and managing corrective actions to minimize safety incidents, and GCAA regulatory interventions.
  • Ensure that all non-conformances are documented, and resolved, using root cause analysis and effective Corrective Action Preventative Action plans (CAPA).
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Act as the point of contact for GCAA regulatory and AD Airports related issues and liaise with stakeholders to implement CAPA plans effectively.
  • Represent Senior Manager of AD Airports in GCAA Regulatory related meetings, working groups, and industry forums to stay abreast of best practices and emerging regulatory changes and trends.
  • Implement the aerodrome projects process (currently AMC-59) to ensure development of AD Airports infrastructure is managed safely and efficiently to GCAA regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that aerodrome project compliance is verified to GCAA regulation and AD Airports aerodrome standards.
  • Manage cross-functional teams' expectations of GCAA regulatory engagement and timescales.
  • Responsible for supporting and complementing the SMS, through proactively implementing SMS Manual section 4.6.3.

Top competencies required

  • Strong knowledge of aerodrome operations, ICAO and state regulatory frameworks,
  • and Safety Management Systems.
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and implementing safety
  • management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to report and
  • present certification data.
  • Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

Education and Qualifications

  • A minimum, degree level qualification in a field related to Aviation and/or Aviation Safety or a related field, or the industry experience equivalent.

Experience

  • 3 + years of experience in an aerodrome operation, aerodrome projects or Safety
  • Management Systems, supervisory / management role.
  • Significant operational and organisational experience within an airport.
  • Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and assessments within an airport
  • environment.
