About the Role

The Research Analyst (Buy-Side) position is a mid-level professional role focused on delivering in-depth research and actionable analysis to support investment strategies within a dynamic investment company environment. This role centers on evaluating financial markets, sectors, and specific assets to inform portfolio management decisions. The analyst will play a critical part in shaping investment theses, identifying market trends, and providing data-driven insights that directly impact asset allocation and performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive fundamental and quantitative research on equities, fixed income, and alternative asset classes to support buy-side investment decisions.
  • Analyze macroeconomic indicators, industry trends, and geopolitical developments to assess their impact on global and regional financial markets.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), relative valuation, and scenario analysis for target companies and sectors.
  • Prepare high-quality investment reports, presentations, and recommendations for portfolio managers and the investment committee.
  • Monitor and track portfolio holdings, providing timely updates on earnings releases, corporate actions, and market-moving events.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to identify new investment opportunities and support ongoing due diligence processes.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics tools and financial databases (such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Thomson Reuters Eikon) to extract, analyze, and visualize market data.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes, market structure developments, and best practices in investment research.
  • Participate in regular investment team meetings, contributing insights and supporting the formulation of investment strategies.
  • Engage with external research providers, industry experts, and company management teams to gather primary and secondary research inputs.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience (typically 2-5 years) in investment research, financial analysis, or a related field within a buy-side or sell-side environment.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis methodologies.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Solid understanding of global financial markets, asset classes, and macroeconomic drivers.
  • Proficiency with financial data platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Thomson Reuters Eikon, or similar tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality research outputs under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional investment teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards relevant to investment research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline is required.
  • Progress toward or completion of professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or FRM is highly regarded.
  • Advanced coursework or training in financial modeling, statistics, or data analytics is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in investment research and financial markets.
