Position Overview

The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all piping and steel structure works are executed in compliance with project specifications, international codes, and client requirements. This role involves inspection, documentation, and coordination with construction teams to maintain quality standards throughout fabrication, erection, and installation phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Planning & Control
  • Develop and implement QA/QC procedures, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and checklists for piping and steel works.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes (ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, AISC, ISO, IEC) and project specifications.
  • Inspection & Testing
  • Conduct inspections of welding, bolting, fit-up, alignment, and dimensional checks for piping and steel structures.
  • Monitor NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) and review results for acceptance.
  • Verify hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak tests for piping systems.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain QA/QC records: inspection reports, test certificates, material traceability, and welding logs.
  • Issue NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper documentation for handover and final dossiers.
  • Material & Fabrication Control
  • Verify material certificates, heat numbers, and ensure proper storage/handling of piping and steel materials.
  • Inspect fabrication processes including cutting, beveling, welding, and painting/coating.
  • Coordination & Compliance
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors for approvals.
  • Support site teams in resolving quality-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) requirements during inspections.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of QA/QC experience in piping and steel structure projects.
  • Certification in welding inspection (CSWIP, AWS-CWI) or NDT Level II preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Zero major NCRs on critical works.
  • Timely submission of QA/QC documentation and reports.
  • Compliance with project specifications and international standards.
  • Effective coordination with site and client teams.
