QHSE Officer

- Carry out the day to day operations of QHSE department and contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety and Environmental management by providing technical support.
- Maintain relevant QHSE logs and documentation.
- Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare applicable QHSE reports as necessary.
- Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management.
- Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
- Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
- Provide induction for all new employees on OHSE topics.
- Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training.
- Educate and train all our employees located at different branches to embrace environment, health and safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in a healthy, safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
- Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages workers for safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
- Act as a member of the safety committee.
- 5 year min. proven working experience as a safety officer.
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
- Certificate in occupational health and safety (OSHAS) / (NEBOSH)
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
- Should be able to work independently or a part of a team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
