Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Junior HVAC Designer to join our growing team. You will support the design of mechanical systems, perform calculations, conduct site surveys, and assist in delivering projects that prioritize measurable performance, balanced airflow, and maintenance-friendly layouts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in HVAC system design for commercial, institutional, and retrofit projects.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, duct sizing, and psychrometric analysis.
  • Prepare drawings and schedules using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Conduct site visits to verify as-built conditions, take field measurements, and support TAB/commissioning activities.
  • Help develop plenum layouts, diffuser selections, duct transitions, and access planning.
  • Contribute to project documentation, including commissioning checklists and field reports.
  • Collaborate on shared resources such as pressure maps, retrofit playbooks, and community standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in HVAC design or related field (internships count).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of load calculation software (e.g., HAP, Trace, or similar).
  • Understanding of psychrometrics, airflow distribution, and ASHRAE standards.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and field measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn hands-on practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) processes.
  • Interest in retrofits, manual commissioning, or maintenance-aware design.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling or sustainable design practices.
