About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to lead pipeline engineering activities across feasibility, concept, pre-FEED, FEED, basic engineering, and detailed design stages. The role requires strong technical leadership, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and responsibility for delivering high-quality pipeline engineering deliverables within project schedules and budgets.

The Senior Pipeline Engineer will manage pipeline design activities, oversee engineering deliverables, coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, authorities, and survey teams, and support construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Engineering Leadership

• Lead pipeline engineering for feasibility, concept study, pre-FEED, FEED, basic engineering, tender design, and detailed engineering.

• Review ITT documents and prepare technical clarifications (TCs), technical inputs, deliverable lists, and man-hour estimates for proposals.

• Prepare and review technical queries (TQs) and coordinate with clients for data gathering.

Pipeline Route & Approvals

• Conduct desktop studies and develop preliminary pipeline route options.

• Plan and coordinate NOC and authority approval processes.

• Liaise with NOC agents and attend authority meetings; handle full NOC coordination when required.

• Conduct reconnaissance and site visits to finalise pipeline route selection.

Surveys & Field Work

• Finalise scopes for pipeline surveys; evaluate survey contractor bids.

• Coordinate with survey contractors and review survey reports.

• Participate in site visits for system adequacy checks, data collection, and route verification.

Engineering Deliverables & Technical Review

• Finalise the LOD and contribute to planning and scheduling of deliverables.

• Review and approve pipeline calculations and studies, including wall thickness, buckling, stress analysis, and crossing designs.

• Prepare and review Design Basis, philosophies, position papers, specifications, datasheets, SOWs, MRs, calculations, alignment sheets, route maps, schedules, and MTOs.

• Ensure all pipeline deliverables align with client specifications, international codes, standards, and project requirements.

Interdisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate closely with process, piping, electrical, civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines.

• Perform IDC reviews of other discipline deliverables and incorporate required updates into pipeline documents.

• Ensure designers understand project scope and prepare drawings correctly, including GIS-based drawings.

Project & Contractor Management

• Supervise pipeline engineers and review engineering deliverables produced by consultants or EPC contractors.

• Coordinate and monitor pipeline design activities with EPC contractors to ensure timely completion.

• Provide expertise in evaluating design options, optimising solutions, and validating engineering approaches.

• Support client representation in engineering meetings, design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, constructability workshops, and technical sessions.

Procurement, Vendor & Construction Support

• Conduct technical bid evaluations and prepare technical recommendations.

• Review vendor documents in line with VDRL and ensure comments are incorporated.

• Provide on-site engineering support during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.

• Witness and sign off construction and commissioning activities.

• Support change management, variation documentation, and scope clarification.

Quality, QHSE & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to internal quality procedures and project quality requirements.

• Maintain alignment of all pipeline deliverables with schedule, technical expectations, and project budgets.

• Maintain awareness of QHSE policies and ensure compliance with IMS processes.

Competency Requirements

• Strong technical expertise in pipeline design and engineering.

• Strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills.

• Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

• Basic understanding of pipeline corrosion protection and cathodic protection.

• Familiarity with authority approvals, NOC procedures, and non-disruptive road-crossing (NDRC) techniques.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments.

• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and company specifications.

• Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.

Experience

• 10–15 years of professional experience in pipeline facility design.

• Experience in feasibility studies, concept development, pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering for cross-country pipelines.

• Minimum 2 years as a Lead Pipeline Engineer.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (minimum 4-year accredited programme).

• Postgraduate degree preferred.
