Description:

We are seeking an experienced Risk Officer in the crypto space to lead the implementation and oversight of our enterprise risk management framework. The Risk Officer will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational, financial, technology, and regulatory risks across the organization to ensure ongoing compliance and robust internal controls.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and deep understanding of the virtual assets sector and its regulatory environment. The Risk Officer will work closely with the Compliance Team and the Board Risk & Compliance Committee to maintain our risk culture and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain our Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Enterprise Risk Register, identifying key risks across trading, custody, operations, and technology functions.
  • Conduct risk assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing for liquidity, counterparty, and market risks.
  • Oversee vendor and outsourcing risk assessments, ensuring third-party compliance
  • Collaborate with the CISO and CTO to monitor technology and cybersecurity risks
  • Develop key risk indicators (KRIs) and produce quarterly risk reports for management and the Board Risk & Compliance Committee.
  • Escalate material risk events to the regulator as required
  • Support internal and external audits by providing risk-related documentation and remediation evidence.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance
    ,
    Risk Management, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in risk or compliance within financial services, fintech, or virtual asset firms. Virtual Asset experience is a must.
  • Solid understanding of UAE crypto regulatory frameworks and the UAE financial regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge of virtual asset custody, exchange operations, and blockchain risk factors.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a proactive approach to risk identification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

  • Professional certifications such as FRM, CRISC, CAMS, or PRM.
  • Experience using risk management or GRC software tools.
  • Familiarity with incident management and control testing processes.
  • Arabic language proficiency.
