**Job Title**: Junior Barista

**Job Summary**:
The Junior Barista is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of coffee and tea beverages while learning the skills and techniques required to become a proficient barista. This role involves supporting the café team, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area. The Junior Barista is eager to learn and develop their skills under the guidance of more experienced baristas and café management.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Beverage Preparation Support**:
1. Assist in preparing coffee and tea beverages under the supervision of a Senior Barista.

2. Learn to operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment with guidance.

3. Practice basic coffee-making techniques, such as grinding beans, brewing coffee, and steaming milk.

**Customer Service**:
1. Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude, taking their orders accurately.

2. Provide basic information about the café’s menu offerings, including coffee, tea, and food items.

3. Assist in fulfilling customer requests, such as adding sugar, cream, or other customizations to their beverages.

**Learning and Development**:
1. Participate in on-the-job training to develop barista skills, including espresso preparation, latte art, and customer service.

2. Learn about different coffee types, brewing methods, and flavor profiles from experienced team members.

3. Take part in any training sessions or workshops provided by the café to improve skills and knowledge.

**Cleaning and Maintenance**:
1. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including counters, tables, and equipment.

2. Assist in the daily cleaning of espresso machines, grinders, and other tools, following proper sanitation procedures.

3. Ensure that the café is well-stocked with clean cups, utensils, and other necessary items.

**Inventory Support**:
1. Help monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, and other ingredients, reporting any shortages to the Senior Barista or Café Manager.

2. Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring that products are fresh and properly organized.

3. Learn how to track inventory usage and understand the importance of managing waste.

**Team Collaboration**:
1. Work closely with the café team, including other baristas and kitchen staff, to ensure efficient service.

2. Communicate effectively with team members to manage customer orders and maintain a smooth workflow.

3. Support the café during busy periods by helping with tasks such as restocking supplies or clearing tables.

**Customer Interaction**:
1. Engage with customers in a friendly manner, making them feel welcome and valued.

2. Assist in explaining menu options and answering basic questions about the café’s offerings.

3. Strive to provide excellent customer service, contributing to a positive café experience.

**Health and Safety Compliance**:
1. Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring that beverages are prepared and served in a clean and safe environment.

2. Learn and follow proper procedures for handling food and beverages, including temperature control and storage.

3. Understand and practice safe operation of all café equipment, with guidance from more experienced staff.

**Qualifications**:

4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

5. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

6. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.

7. Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
