**Position Overview**: The Florist is responsible for designing, arranging, and preparing floral displays and products for customers. This role involves creating custom floral arrangements for various occasions, maintaining the shop's appearance, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Floral Design**: Create and design a variety of floral arrangements including bouquets, centerpieces, and specialty arrangements for events, holidays, and everyday occasions.
- **Customer Service**: Interact with customers to understand their floral needs and preferences, provide recommendations, and ensure high satisfaction with products and services.
- **Sales**: Assist customers with selecting flowers and plants, process transactions, and upsell additional products such as vases, chocolates, and cards.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitor and manage inventory of flowers, plants, and supplies. Ensure stock levels are adequate and report any shortages or issues.
- **Maintenance**: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop, including refrigeration units, work areas, and display areas.
- **Vendor Relations**: Order flowers and supplies from vendors, negotiate prices, and manage relationships to ensure timely deliveries and quality products.
- **Event Preparation**: Prepare floral arrangements for special events such as weddings, corporate functions, and parties, including setup and delivery if required.
- **Design Trends**: Stay updated on current floral design trends and incorporate new ideas and techniques into arrangements.
- **Administrative Tasks**: Handle basic administrative duties such as record-keeping, scheduling, and processing orders and payments.

**Qualifications**:

- **Experience**: Proven experience as a florist or in a similar role is preferred. Training or certification in floral design is a plus.
- **Skills**:

- Strong creativity and artistic ability in floral design.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of flower varieties, care, and handling techniques.
- Basic mathematical skills for pricing and inventory management.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and work with tools and equipment.
- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in floral design is advantageous.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work is performed primarily in a floral shop environment.
- May require occasional delivery or event setup outside of normal working hours.
- Exposure to flowers and plants, which may include allergens.
