- Previous experience teaching in, or managing, American schools.
- Hold or qualify for an appropriate administrative license.
- Hold an attested Master’s Degree in Education or higher degree if available.
- Minimum five years experience as a teacher before your administration experience.
- Experience with regulatory bodies and school inspections a plus.
- A clear vision of the school instruction program; understanding school issues.
- Ability to lead school improvement efforts informed by data that produce high achievement results.
- Strong communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents, and the community.

**Essential Skills And Responsibilities**:

- Assist with managing the general operation of the school.
- Assist the principal as the instructional leader of the school.
- Monitor and supervise instruction, supporting teachers to achieve high expectations for all students.
- Evaluate the impact of instruction on student learning and create a culture of continuous professional growth.
- Engage staff, students, and families to achieve continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Assist with the supervision and evaluate all certified and classified personnel assigned to the school.
- Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school’s professional staff.
- Assume responsibility for the safety of building employees and administration of school facilities.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary. according to due process to support the rights of students.
- Create a safe, supportive school climate.
- Effectively manage operational, technical, and staff issues to promote instructional progress.
- Assume responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.
- Act as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

The vice principal serves as one of the educational leaders, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the organization. Achieving academic excellence requires that the vice principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, student management, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. The vice principal must have a strong commitment to continuing his/her professional development.
