**Job Summary**:
The Bosun (Boatswain) is the senior-most rating in the Deck Department and is responsible for supervising the deck crew and ensuring the proper upkeep, maintenance, and operation of the deck and cargo handling equipment. Based in **Abu Dhabi**, the Bosun will lead and coordinate deck operations on board vessels operating in coastal or offshore waters under local and international maritime regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Supervise and direct the activities of deck ratings (Able Seamen, Ordinary Seamen, etc.).
- Carry out maintenance work on deck equipment, mooring lines, anchors, winches, and safety gear.
- Assist in berthing, unberthing, and anchoring operations.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed during deck operations, including lifting and rigging.
- Lead the deck crew in cleaning, painting, chipping, and preservation tasks.
- Assist in cargo handling and securing operations as per vessel requirements.
- Conduct safety drills and ensure deck crew are familiar with emergency procedures.
- Maintain tools and materials used on deck in good condition.
- Report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the Chief Mate.
- Follow all instructions as per SMS (Safety Management System), ISM, and MARPOL procedures.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid **Bosun / Boatswain competency certificate** or relevant sea service as a senior deck rating.
- Valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety Training, Security Awareness, Survival Craft, etc.).
- Valid Seaman Book, Passport, and Medical Certificate (as per STCW/MLC 2006).
- Minimum **3-5 years of experience** as an Able Seaman or previous experience as Bosun.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of deck equipment, seamanship, mooring, and cargo operations.

**Preferred Experience**:

- Experience working on vessels operating in UAE coastal or offshore waters.
- Familiarity with ADNOC or Abu Dhabi Ports procedures and safety standards.
- Experience on offshore support vessels, tugboats, or oil & gas-related marine assets.
- Must have an ADNOC or ARAMCO approval
