**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
Based at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Head of HSSEQ will lead the development and implementation of all health, safety, security, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations, promoting a safe work environment, and driving continuous improvement in HSSEQ performance across all company operations.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**Strategic HSSEQ Leadership and Policy Development**
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of HSSEQ policies and corporate standards that align with the overall business goals of P&O Maritime Logistics and DP World. Influence organizational culture by embedding HSSEQ considerations into corporate decision-making processes and ensuring these policies support sustainable business practices.
- Provides strategic oversight and guidance to the company’s QHSE Teams, ensuring they achieve or surpass targets and standards for safety, quality, and legislative compliance. Facilitates coordination and alignment of objectives across teams through indirect leadership and collaborative support.
- Champions the development of a proactive safety culture across the company by promoting practices that prioritize understanding over blame, learning from near misses, and empowering all employees to contribute to safety initiatives. Ensures that these practices are embedded in daily operations to enhance overall safety awareness and performance.
**Risk Management and Strategic Mitigation**
- Identify critical HSSEQ risks to the organization, prioritizes these risks based on potential impact, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
**HSSEQ Performance and Integration**
- Integrate HSSEQ performance metrics into the company's overall SVP system. Develop and oversee a dashboard of HSSEQ metrics that are regularly reported to the CEO and the board, facilitating strategic decisions based on HSSEQ performance insights.
**Stakeholder Engagement and Corporate Representation**
- Act as the primary HSSEQ representative in executive discussions and external engagements, including negotiations with clients, partnerships, and regulatory bodies. Ensure that HSSEQ issues are given a voice at the highest level, and foster strong relationships with external stakeholders to enhance the company's reputation in HSSEQ excellence.
**Innovation and Continuous Improvement**
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve HSSEQ practices through the adoption of new technologies, processes, and best practices. Foster a culture of innovation within the HSSEQ team to explore and implement solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship across all operations.
**Decarbonization**
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive decarbonization strategy that aligns with global environmental standards and the company’s sustainability goals. This includes setting clear, measurable objectives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all maritime operations.
**Emergency Response**
- Coordinates the development and implementation of comprehensive emergency response strategies across the Division. Ensures readiness and effectiveness by facilitating regular training sessions, drills, and review processes, and by supporting QHSE Teams in maintaining high standards of preparedness for any emergency situations.
**Incident Investigation**
- Lead on high-severity actual and potential incidents as per the POML Incident Management Standard, using a systematic approach to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Ensures lessons are learned and disseminated across the organization to prevent future occurrences and enhance safety protocols.
**POML Assurance Program**
- Oversees the POML Assurance Program to ensure robust compliance and quality across all operational activities. Monitors program effectiveness, identifies areas for improvement, and collaborates with QHSE teams to implement enhancements that strengthen assurance processes and outcomes.
**External Audit**
- Client OVMSA and ISO Audit Coordination: Coordinates and manages all aspects of client OVMSA and ISO audit processes. Ensures thorough preparation, facilitates smooth execution of audits, and addresses findings promptly. Maintains compliance with industry standards and strengthens client trust through diligent audit management.
**Maritime Security**
- Guides the enhancement of maritime security measures across the company by providing expert oversight and strategic direction. Collaborates with QHSE teams to assess security risks, develop and implement robust security protocols, and ensure continuous improvement in response to evolving threats and regulatory changes.
