Junior Waiter/waitress

**Job Overview**

As the Junior Waiter/Waitress (F&B Runner) at Novikov Abu Dhabi, you will be responsible for quickly and accurately delivering orders from the kitchen to customers at the restaurant and serve as one of the essential parts of the hospitality industry.

You will assist the waiter staff to deliver food to the tables.

You will be supporting waiter staff in carrying beverages and meal items to designated tables.

Departmental Responsibilities
- Work very closely with the Chef’s in terms of mise en place for the kitchen
- Responsible in delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables rapidly and accurately
- Make sure that the restaurant set up, including but not limited to: perform daily cleaning, clean and dust all tables, chairs and caging; polish all glassware and cutlery, fold napkins, check all menus and where necessary replace covers and inserts, prepare all rubbish bins for service, clean and replenish the restrooms, etc
- Clean the tools and work surfaces you use (black cloths, sinks, shelves and surfaces, ashtrays, cupboards etc)
- To change rubbish bags and napkin bags
- To assist to clean toilets or floors if necessary
- To ensure that all colleagues activities adhere to and support the Novikov Quality Standards
- Be updated with food and beverages knowledge required to carry out duties.
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards.
- Always escort all guests to their destination, for example, escort guests to their allocated table, bar, bathroom, when departing the restaurant, etc.
- Perform daily cleaning jobs assigned to you by Captain or managers.
- Clean and stock up the pass sections (sauces, cutlery, crockery, condiments etc)
- To learn the menu and order of service as you go

**Operations (Food & Beverage Tasks)** **Food Running**:

- To take the food to correct tables or destinations, as instructed by the Chefs.
- To alert the section waiter to serve food.
- Learn the names of all dishes, and subsequently attend food training to learn all ingredients and cooking methods.
- To escort the guests to their destinations (table, bathroom, exit etc). Always allow a guest to pass first, never cross their path.
- If guests speak to you, or ask a question, ensure they are attended to by a waiter or manager immediately.
- To assist waiters to clear the tables either when you are coming back from running the food to tables or whenever a waiter requests it.
- To alert the waiters or managers when necessary, about: spillage on the floor, dirty toilets & breakages

**Drinks Running**:

- Run the drinks to the correct tables or destinations.
- To serve the drinks according to seat numbers
- To learn the names of all the drinks _(_especially our cocktails), and subsequently attend relevant training.
- Serve all drinks in an appropriate style: for instance, ladies first and pouring from bottles as instructed.
- Assist waiters to clear tables when you are coming back from running the drinks or when a waiter requires.

**People Management**
- Be willing and ready to assist colleagues as and when situations arise
- Always be ready to assist the new joiners on their training plans

Communication
- Make sure to provide a link between kitchen and service areas.
- During service, carry food and beverages to the allocated table or destination as per the instructions of the Pass Waiter; alert the delegated Waiter to serve the food and/or beverage according to seat numbers on the system docket; assist Waiters in clearing the tables when required.
- Attend and contribute to all staff briefings and other related activities.

**Leadership**
- Ensuring guests received the highest possible level of service to maintain overall satisfaction on a consistent basis.
- Maintain standards of food and beverage quality as established through restaurant standards, policies and procedures.
- Have a complete understanding of the restaurant operation, and respond to any changes in the restaurant function as requested by the Manager.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Abu Dhabi: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
