Job Summary: A cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires attention to detail, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

- Customer Service:

- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Assist customers with their purchases and answer their questions.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and promptly.
- Cash Handling:

- Receive payments from customers for products or services.
- Accurately count cash, checks, or electronic payments, ensuring transactions are error-free.
- Provide change to customers when necessary.
- Point of Sale (POS) System:

- Operate electronic cash registers or computerized POS systems.
- Scan and process items for purchase, and ensure accurate pricing.
- Process returns and exchanges following company policies.
- Record Keeping:

- Maintain an accurate cash drawer and reconcile it at the end of the shift.
- Keep records of all transactions and issue receipts to customers.
- Prepare daily sales reports or financial summaries as required.
- Cash Management:

- Ensure the security of cash and cash register at all times.
- Follow cash-handling procedures to prevent theft and discrepancies.
- Report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
- Product Knowledge:

- Familiarize yourself with the products or services offered by the business.
- Provide product information to customers and promote special offers or sales.
- Compliance:

- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations, including age-restricted sales (e.g., alcohol or tobacco).
- Verify customer identification when necessary.
- Cleanliness and Organization:

- Keep the cashier area clean and organized.
- Restock supplies, such as receipt paper, bags, or change, as needed.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous cashier or customer service experience is a plus.
- Strong numerical and basic math skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of POS systems and basic computer skills.
