Job Title: Senior Scientist - Chemist/Biochemist

**Core Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Conduct characterization of physical, chemical, and structural characterizations of organic and polymeric compounds.
- Preferred hands-on characterization experience of:

- SEC/GPC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS
- NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis
- DSC, TGA, Rheology, Viscosity
- Responsible for developing scientific work proposals, work plans, and interim and final reports with close attention to detail and presentation.
- Develop and validate extraction procedures targeting polymers and/or organic molecules from complex matrices, including biological tissues, bacterial cultures, soil, and commercial products.
- Identify, test, and validate chromatographic and other analytical methods to provide acceptance criteria of testing methods.
- Recommend best analytical practices and conditions for various analytical methods.
- Process, compile, and present analytical data with statistical relevance.
- Provide a detailed explanation and discussion of the results and conclusion.
- Responsible for presenting statistically relevant trends and differences between samples through graphs, charts, and chromatograms to other team members and sponsors.
- Perform routine and special analytical procedures with high accuracy and precision while meeting strict quality assurance guidelines of documentation when recording data.
- Responsible for presenting scientific data to the Analytical Services Team and clients, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, liaising with customers, staff and suppliers.
- Conducting general wet chemistry experiments pertaining to extraction, isolation and purification of polymeric synthetic and bio-polymers.
- Engage with other departments to support R&D, Sales and Quality activities as needed.

**Other responsibilities**:

- Interact with clients alongside or under the direction of Managers and Directors, as needed
- Prepare internal presentations.
- Interact with internal departments (e.g. bioanalytical, project management, business development, etc.)
- Lead and participate in functions required to ensure the success of the department or market segment team
- Some travel may be required to participate in scientific conferences or client site visits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Polymers synthesis experience is an asset.
- Possess proficiency in writing technical reports and preparing presentations.
- Self-motivation and an enthusiastic personality are a must.
- Possess leadership skills to lead a team of scientists.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess excellent time and project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
