**Technical and Developmental Responsibility
- Assist in design, test and implement new processes for creating biomedical equipment, products and surgical procedures
- Provides technical support for clinical equipment throughout healthcare systems
- Coordinates and participates in requests for special projects, such as new equipment acquisition purchase planning, development of specifications, analysis of vendor proposals, installation planning, acceptance testing, renovations, equipment upgrades and equipment disposal
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines
- Participates in development of department and system wide quality assurance for continuous quality improvement initiatives for proper use or maintenance and repair of patient care equipment
- Performs incident investigation and equipment performance analysis as required
- Develop patient care equipment safety and device specific in-service programs for presentation to the clinical employees throughout all locations, and perform in-service education to patient care equipment users as needed
- Develop or review emergency and safety plans related to use and operation of critical patient care equipment
- Review patient care equipment safety alerts and recall notices and take appropriate actions to ensure the affected equipment is tested or removed from service, where appropriate
- Develop evaluation criteria for patient care equipment’s and compare at the time of purchase to ensure to meet the standards in terms of the quality of the equipment
- Assist the department head and other clinical engineering management employees in the evaluation and supervision of technical employees as they perform duties and responsibilities related to technical support, maintenance and repair of patient care equipment

**Biomedical Equipment Requirements
- Approves new biomedical equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes and making modifications
- Installs new biomedical equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance
- Maintains biomedical equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions; calling for special service, evaluating service contracts and maintaining equipment inventories
- Prepares biomedical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
- Maintains safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety tests, recommending and complying with procedures

**Equipment’s Repair and Maintenance
- Install, maintain and repair biomedical equipment
- Close the daily requests received for the repair of the medical equipment
- Attend the service call day to day basis
- Carry out the preventive maintenance visits as per the preventive maintenance schedule
- Liaising closely with other medical professionals, such as clinicians and therapists as well as with end-users (patients and their care takers)
- Provides immediate support during the equipment breakdown or whenever needed by user department

**Equipment’s Purchase
- Purchase the required parts from the local market / equipment suppliers
- Make recommendations to HOD for machine parts that are required from abroad or beyond direct purchase limit

**Reports and MIS
- Prepare weekly / monthly report on the purchase and maintenance of biomedical equipment’s
- Keep documentation of service histories on all biomedical equipment

**Other Responsibilities
- Attend training program related to biomedical programs
- Update knowledge about the latest biomedical equipment’s to improve the service of the clinics and hospitals to the customers/ patients

**Job interactions
- Assist scientists, chemists and engineers to research, design and evaluate new biomedical equipment, products and software
- Daily maintenance upon the request from Unit in charge and end users and update status of service reported to the senior manager, supervisors or to the head of the unit
