**JOB SUMMARY**

***To oversee the examination entries and procedures for the whole School.

Responsibilities will include:

- Doing all that you can to ensure that you safeguard and promote the welfare of students (in line with Arbor’s Safeguarding framework/policy/Code of Conduct).
- Positively and actively promoting the Arbor vision, mission, and values.
- Ensuring your practice is in line with the Arbor Staff Handbook, the Arbor Teacher: A Framework for Outstanding Teaching and Leading at Arbor: A Framework for Developing Leadership.
- Ensuring a collective approach to maintaining a high standard of positive behaviour management throughout the school, as per the Arbor School Behaviour for Learning policy and procedures.
- Implementing, where appropriate, school policies, procedures and expected practices, as identified by the Senior Leadership Team at the Arbor School.
- To liaise closely with parents to ensure effective home/school partnership, communicating and consulting with the parents of students.
- Main Responsibilities
- Teaching swimming to groups of children within lessons as allocated by Head of PE.
- Leading before-school and after-school Swim Squad sessions for advanced, beginner and intermediate swimmers.
- Supervising and overseeing the school lifeguard team and swim coaches employed by the school to ensure high standards of health and safety, swimming delivery and supervision.
- Ensuring that lifeguards are performing twice daily chemical checks of the pools and weekly pool plant room checks.
- Consulting with Mace Macro and the school facilities team on any maintenance and issues related to the swimming pool and surrounding area.
- Leading on the organisation of swimming galas and swim meet participations, both on and of site, including outside of regular working hours.
- Leading PE Departmental CPD on swimming, upskilling PE teachers in their technical delivery of swimming lessons.
- Leading on, coaching, and managing swim squads at galas and meets.
- Regularly checking and updating swim-related school documentation, specifically the NOP and EAP documents, ensuring they are up to date and adhered to.
- Contributing to swimming-based elements of student reports.
- Co-operating with the Head of PE and other teachers in all issues of health and safety under the school’s health and safety policy, and any other subsequent/relevant legislation; daily health and safety checks of designated areas.
- Assisting the Head of PE and other PE teachers during other sports activities.
- Assisting the Head of PE and other teachers to ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and fittings are maintained in a safe condition in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations and relevant health and safety legislation, and that all defects to the buildings are reported as quickly as possible.

It is expected that the post holder will be available to work during the summer holidays, particularly in August, in order to process examination results when they come in.

The Principal reserves the right to vary responsibilities of administrative staff to accommodate the changing needs of the school. All administrative staff work as part of a team and may be asked to provide cover for colleagues during holidays or absence.

**REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE**:
**Professional Qualifications**
- Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS
- Minimum Level 2 Coaching Qualification in swimming.
- Minimum three years’ teaching experience
- Familiarity with the National Curriculum of England (Plus IGCSE/GCSE and/or A Levels as appropriate)
- A Lifeguard Certificate or Swim Rescue Award, or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid Certified
