The Head Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the ICU, managing nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and adhering to healthcare regulations and standards. The role includes staff management, resource planning, patient care coordination, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols in a high-pressure environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Leadership & Supervision**:

- Supervise and lead a team of ICU nurses and support staff.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to ICU nursing staff based on patient needs and nurse competencies.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training to ensure continuous improvement in clinical practices.
- **Patient Care Management**:

- Ensure high standards of patient care, maintaining a patient-centered approach.
- Oversee the implementation of individualized care plans for critically ill patients.
- Collaborate with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals for effective care coordination.
- **Staff Training & Development**:

- Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing professional development of ICU staff.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and manage appraisal processes.
- Ensure staff compliance with established ICU protocols, including infection control and medication administration.
- **Quality & Compliance**:

- Ensure adherence to local healthcare regulations, Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and hospital policies.
- Regularly review and update ICU policies and procedures to maintain high-quality care.
- Conduct audits, monitor ICU performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- **Resource & Budget Management**:

- Oversee ICU resource allocation, including medical equipment, supplies, and staffing.
- Manage budgetary constraints, ensuring cost-effective use of ICU resources while maintaining high standards of care.
- **Crisis & Emergency Response**:

- Lead the team in critical situations and ensure efficient handling of emergencies.
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency and disaster response plans for the ICU.
- **Patient & Family Support**:

- Provide emotional and informational support to critically ill patients and their families.
- Ensure families are kept informed about patient progress and involved in decision-making.
- **Reporting & Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, nursing activities, and incident reports.
- Report to senior management on ICU performance, patient outcomes, and staff needs.

**Experience**:

License/Certification:
