An oral surgeon is a dental specialist who is trained to perform surgeries and other procedures involving the mouth, teeth, jaws, and facial structures. Some of the primary responsibilities of an oral surgeon include:
Diagnosis and Treatment: Oral surgeons are responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions related to the mouth and jaw, such as impacted teeth, cysts, tumors, and facial trauma. They also treat patients with oral cancer and perform reconstructive surgery after oral cancer treatment.

Dental Implants: Oral surgeons are trained to place dental implants, which are artificial tooth roots used to replace missing teeth. They also perform bone grafting and other procedures to prepare the jawbone for implant placement.

Wisdom Teeth Removal: Wisdom teeth are the third molars that typically emerge in the late teenage years or early twenties. Oral surgeons are often called upon to remove these teeth when they become impacted or cause other dental problems.

TMJ Disorders: Oral surgeons also diagnose and treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, which can cause pain and discomfort in the jaw and face.

Facial Trauma: Oral surgeons are trained to treat facial injuries caused by accidents or other trauma, such as broken bones, lacerations, and damage to the teeth and other facial structures.

Anesthesia: Oral surgeons are trained to administer different types of anesthesia to ensure that patients are comfortable and pain-free during procedures. They also monitor patients during and after surgery to ensure their safety.
