Cigar Sommelier

**Working Hours**
- Working hours will be 5 days a week or an average of 50 hours per week (up to a maximum of 54 hours per week as per UAE labor law), exclusive of 1 hour meal/other breaks per day.
- The weekly days off permitted will be 2 days off per week; the maximum allowance should not be more than two consecutive off days/two non-consecutive off days in one workweek from Sunday to Saturday. Off-days shall be scheduled by management and recorded in the weekly roster.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Be passionate about customer service with the capability of delivering amazing hospitality to our guests.
- Responsible for the recommendation and sales of wines and other beverages to customers and the wine sales in the restaurant/lounge. Offering and promote the digestive trolley.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests service need and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Maintain an attentive and proactive approach when it comes to offer a second round and ascertaining satisfaction with the product already served.
- Ensures that company policy in regards to drinking age is followed and that the service of alcoholic beverages to obviously intoxicated guests is stopped in a tactful and appropriate manner.
- To retain service standards in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
- Maintains wine cellars, other storage areas, related equipment, and wine list
- Go over the wine list before the service start with the front of the house staff
- Brief the team and advise if any wine is not available
- With the direct superior approval create and update the wine menu at least every 2 month.
- Train staff member on wines and wine service at least twice in a month.
- Be able to answer guest question or concerns regarding the origin, vintage and style of various wine.
- Attend (with manager approval) cigar tastings, cigar dinners and develop relationship with the suppliers.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of wine cellar and equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets
- Assist all the cigar smokers, lighting the cigar in a professional manner, provide them cigar ashtrays and matches
- Up-sell expensive cigars along with digestive
- Be fully responsible for the cigar cabinet/humidor and all the related equipment.
- Handle the spoilage along with the lounge manager and finance manager.
- Train the floor staff once in a month on cigar knowledge
- Ensure that enough cigar cutter are given to the waiters and waitresses
- Keep a good connection and relation with the cigar supplier and whenever is possible to promote cigar nights and events.

**Profitability**
- Maximize sales and up-sell with an aim to surpass the given sales targets.
- Maximize cost control targets and revenue budgets.
- Contribute to the profitability of the Restaurant by increasing sales and generating new revenue ideas.
- Develop short-term and long-term financial and operational goals for the department, which supports the overall objectives of the restaurant.
- Maintains par stock levels and maintain inventory control procedures.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Diploma/Certified Cigar Sommelier, additional related training preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a Cigar Sommelier.
- Knowledge in cigar tasting and pairings. Must have good cigar knowledge from the old and the new world.
- Practical knowledge of cigar beverage operations and service. Strong knowledge of wine cigar procedures.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to speak, read and write English. Additional languages will be an advantage.
- Be enthusiastic, sociable with a great personality and a love for food, wine, cigars and hospitality.
- Understand cigar and beverage matching.
- Passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

**Language Skills**
- English - proficiency in spoken and written English
- Additional languages - preferred

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Dubai: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
