Full-time Role Context The Consultant Immunologist will provide specialist evaluation and long‑term management for patients with complex immune system disorders requiring detailed investigation, individualized treatment, and coordination across multiple medical specialties. The role combines clinical assessment, interpretation of advanced immunological investigations, biologic and immunomodulatory therapy, multidisciplinary decision‑making, teaching, and service improvement. Accurate diagnosis and carefully targeted treatment will help reduce recurrent illness, prevent complications, and improve long‑term patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients referred for suspected or confirmed immunological disorders.
- Diagnose primary immunodeficiency diseases across appropriate adult and pediatric populations.
- Evaluate and manage acquired or secondary immunodeficiency conditions.
- Investigate patients with recurrent, severe, unusual, or persistent infections that may indicate underlying immune dysfunction.
- Assess autoimmune and immune‑mediated diseases within the scope of clinical immunology.
- Evaluate complex inflammatory presentations requiring specialist immune system assessment.
- Review comprehensive medical, infection, medication, family, and treatment histories.
- Conduct detailed clinical examinations relevant to suspected immunological disease.
- Request appropriate immunological investigations based on clinical presentation.
- Interpret immunoglobulin levels and quantitative immune profiles.
- Review lymphocyte subsets and cellular immune investigations where clinically indicated.
- Interpret antibody response testing and other functional immune studies.
- Evaluate complement studies and additional specialist immunological laboratory investigations.
- Correlate laboratory findings with clinical history and examination before establishing a diagnosis.
- Identify patients requiring genetic or molecular investigation for suspected inherited immune disorders.
- Coordinate additional diagnostic testing with laboratory medicine and relevant specialist services.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, immune function, comorbidities, and treatment response.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological treatment for immune‑mediated disease.
- Initiate and monitor biologic therapies when clinically indicated.
- Use immunomodulatory treatments according to evidence‑based standards and approved clinical practice.
- Monitor patients for treatment effectiveness, adverse effects, infection risk, and long‑term complications.
- Support management of patients receiving immunoglobulin replacement therapy where appropriate.
- Review vaccination strategies for patients with altered immune function.
