Full-time Role Context The Marine Educator connects guests with the aquarium experience through engaging conversations, presentations and conservation-focused activities. The role combines public speaking, hospitality and marine education to help visitors understand animal species, aquarium environments, conservation challenges and responsible actions that support healthy oceans. Strong communication and continued learning are central to creating memorable interactions while maintaining appropriate animal welfare, guest safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and engage aquarium guests in an enthusiastic, professional and approachable manner.
- Share clear and interesting information about marine species, habitats and aquarium themes.
- Develop working knowledge of marine animal care, aquarium systems and conservation practices.
- Deliver formal conservation education programs according to operational requirements.
- Facilitate informal educational interactions with individuals, families and visitor groups.
- Present marine animal activities to both small and large audiences when required.
- Proactively approach guests throughout aquarium areas and encourage meaningful interaction.
- Explain conservation threats affecting marine environments and highlight practical protection measures.
- Use approved learning resources to strengthen knowledge of marine life and aquarium operations.
- Conduct research to improve presentation content and subject knowledge.
- Prepare and deliver educational presentations that enhance guest understanding.
- Adapt communication style according to different audience ages and backgrounds.
- Support conservation messaging that encourages guests to consider their impact on ocean environments.
- Facilitate guest surveys and collect feedback about aquarium experiences.
- Help identify opportunities to improve education programs and guest engagement.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment within assigned guest areas.
- Follow correct animal welfare practices during all visitor interactions and educational activities.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures and departmental manuals.
- Maintain awareness of resort facilities, events and related guest services.
- Attend scheduled training sessions and participate in regular knowledge assessments.
- Accept constructive feedback and apply recommendations to improve presentation quality.
- Maintain personal development in marine education, conservation and guest service.
- Work toward service standards and Quality Assurance guest satisfaction targets.
- Attend operational meetings and briefings when required.
- Support additional divisional duties assigned by management where relevant. Ideal Profile
- Engaging personality with strong public speaking and presentation capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with guests from different backgrounds.
- Positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated approach to guest engagement.
- Ability to learn and retain detailed information about marine animals and conservation topics.
- Previous guest service, educational or presentation experience is advantageous.
- Qualification or certificate in hospitality, biology, teaching or a related discipline is desirable.
- Interest in marine life, conservation and environmental education.
- Comfortable presenting information to individuals as well as larger groups.
- Strong spoken English with the ability to read and write clearly.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to respond positively to regular training, coaching and assessments.
