Additionally, the role demands diligent monitoring of budgets, forecasting future expenditures, and ensuring financial targets are met throughout the project lifespan. An Estimator and Cost Controller works closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to reconcile cost discrepancies and support informed decision‑making processes. Their work ensures that projects remain financially feasible, effective, and profitable. Responsibilities - Prepare and maintain detailed estimates of costs related to a project. - Collaborate with project managers to determine material and labor costs. - Conduct regular reviews and analysis of project budgets and expenditures. - Identify potential cost savings and efficiency improvements for projects. - Ensure accuracy in financial forecasts to assist in budgeting decisions. - Track changes in design or construction that might affect costs. - Analyze project outcomes to compare with originally estimated projections. - Report financial status of projects to stakeholders on a regular basis. - Liaise with architects and engineers to understand project scope and requirements. - Use estimating software and Microsoft Excel for accurate cost estimation. - Develop cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. - Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational regulations. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred. - Proven experience in cost estimation and financial analysis is required. - Strong proficiency in using financial reporting software and Microsoft Excel. - Excellent communication skills for clear financial reporting and meetings. - Ability to work effectively with diverse teams in a project environment. - In-depth knowledge of construction and engineering project workflows is crucial. - Strong analytical skills for accurate cost forecasting and budget management.
