Overview

The opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our company. In this role, you will design, create, and implement various Java-based solutions for the business that will range from Java microservice applications to database programming. To be successful as a Backend developer, you should have a specialist level of understanding and skill in developing a broad range of applications and proprietary solutions. A top-notch backend developer will be comfortable working independently and be able to deliver top-quality, error-free work on time.

Responsibilities

1. Design, implement and maintain Java-based applications that can be high-volume and low-latency.
2. Spring Boot.
3. Interpreting briefs to create high-quality coding that functions according to specifications.
4. Determining application functions and building objectives with the team.
5. Ensuring that written code falls in line with the project objectives.
6. Experience in handling external and embedded databases Mongo, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
7. Experience in Kafka and Elastic Search.
8. Skilled at creating database schemas that characterize and support business processes.
9. Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
10. In-depth knowledge of code versioning tools, for instance, Git.
11. Understanding basic design principles behind a scalable application.
12. Understanding of microservice design and architectural patterns.
13. Implement design patterns for distributed systems.
14. Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments.
15. Maintenance of Docker/Container clusters.
16. Familiar with complex event processing and event-driven architecture.
17. Problem solving with other team members in the project.
18. Identifying and resolving immediate and potential issues with applications.
19. Drafting detailed reports on the work performed and projects completed.
20. Participating in group meetings to discuss projects and objectives.
21. Assisting other developers with troubleshooting, debugging, and coding.
22. Meeting deadlines on fast-paced deliverables.

Qualifications

1. Degree in computer sciences, coding, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years' experience in Java-based programming.
3. Significant coding skills in Java, with other languages being a major plus.
4. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
5. Knowledge of current frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and libraries.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication.
7. Good organizational and time-management skills.
8. A strong portfolio of top-class coding and builds to your name.
9. Ability to work with other developers and assist junior team members.
10. Meticulous at both analysis and execution.

This is a 12-month contract role based in Abu Dhabi.
