Job Summary:

A gypsum carpenter, also known as a drywall installer or dry waller, is a skilled trades person responsible for installing and finishing gypsum board (drywall) to create walls, ceilings, and partitions in buildings. They work on construction sites and renovation projects, collaborating with other tradespeople to ensure the timely completion of projects according to specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Installation: Measure, cut, and install gypsum board panels to create walls, ceilings, and partitions according to blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Framing: Construct metal or wood framing structures to support gypsum board installations, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
- Finishing: Tape, mud, and sand gypsum board seams and joints to create smooth, seamless surfaces, ready for painting or wallpapering.
- Patching and Repair: Repair damaged or uneven gypsum board surfaces by patching holes, cracks, or imperfections, blending them seamlessly with surrounding areas.
- Texture Application: Apply texture coatings or finishes to gypsum board surfaces as per project requirements, utilizing techniques such as stippling, spraying, or hand texturing.
- Soundproofing and Insulation: Install soundproofing materials, insulation, or vapor barriers behind gypsum board to enhance acoustic performance and energy efficiency.
- Trim Work: Install and finish gypsum board trim, including corner beads, edge caps, and moldings, to achieve a polished and professional appearance.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of tools and materials.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other construction tradespeople, including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters, to facilitate the seamless integration of gypsum board installations into overall construction projects.
- Cleanup and Maintenance: Clean up work areas and dispose of construction debris responsibly, and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience in gypsum board installation and finishing preferred, with at least 2 years of experience. The position requires proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly, and previous experience in gypsum board installation is a mandatory skill. This is a full-time on rotation job.
