Position Overview:
HSS is seeking a qualified and experienced Lifeguard Instructor to join our team. The Lifeguard Instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive lifeguard training programs in accordance with industry standards and guidelines. This individual will play a critical role in preparing lifeguards to effectively monitor and respond to aquatic emergencies, ensuring the safety of swimmers and patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct lifeguard training courses, including both classroom instruction and practical skills assessment, in accordance with established curriculum and standards.
2. Demonstrate proper lifeguarding techniques, rescue procedures, and emergency response protocols to trainees.
3. Provide hands-on instruction in CPR, First Aid, AED operation, and other lifesaving skills relevant to lifeguarding.
4. Assess trainees' performance and proficiency through written examinations, skills evaluations, and scenario-based simulations.
5. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages active participation, skill development, and confidence-building among trainees.
6. Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to continuously improve training programs and instructional materials.
7. Maintain accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and participant progress.
8. Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and advancements in lifeguarding and aquatic safety.
9. Uphold HSS's commitment to safety, professionalism, and excellence in all aspects of instruction and service delivery.
Qualifications:
1. Current certification as a Lifeguard Instructor from a recognized accrediting agency.
2. Demonstrated experience teaching lifeguard training courses and conducting skills assessments.
3. Proficiency in CPR, First Aid, and AED administration.
4. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
6. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Commitment to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of safety.
8. Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate training sessions and classes.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working as a professional lifeguard in a pool, beach, or aquatic facility.
2. Additional certifications related to lifeguarding, water safety, or aquatic rescue (e.g., Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer).
3. Knowledge of local regulations, codes, and guidelines governing lifeguarding and aquatic safety.
