Job Overview
We are looking for a senior consultant to join our consulting group at Sargent & Lundy. This role is hybrid: three days in the office and two days remote.
The position is based in the United Arab Emirates and focuses on power‑industry consulting across renewable energy, battery storage, and utility planning.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical consulting and advisory services to power project developers for utility‑scale solar, wind, gas, battery energy storage, and other projects.
- Conduct independent engineering and due‑diligence services for lenders and investors evaluating financing of new power and infrastructure projects.
- Perform technical, economic and market studies for grid operators, utilities and research agencies.
- Develop planning studies and business cases for utilities, independent power producers and government agencies.
- Lead others in using data, automation and AI tools to improve workflows and reduce rework. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered).
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) – preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the power industry, including experience in independent engineering and due diligence, power project development, conventional (combined cycle) and/or renewable construction management.
- Experience in project finance or financial modelling of power projects – plus.
- Experience with owner’s engineering activities during power project execution – plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience writing technical reports and proposals.
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others. Leadership & Automation
- Ability to lead team members in setting expectations for use of data, automation, and AI to improve design and deliver cost‑effective solutions.
- Experience directing automation and process‑improvement work, including training on tools such as Python, MATLAB or advanced Excel.
- Knowledge of automation workflows and exposure to computer science, AI or related fields is valued.
