Job Description Job Purpose: The Head of Corporate Credit Analysis Unit in Corporate & Institutional Banking division is responsible for leading the credit analysis team in assessing, underwriting, and monitoring credit risk associated with corporate clients. This hands-on role involves preparation of credit proposals for complex structured finance deals, reviewing credit analysis prepared by team members and providing strategic recommendations to senior management regarding credit decisions. Key Responsibilities: 1 - Credit Risk Assessment: - Lead a team of analysts in performing comprehensive credit assessments for corporate clients, including GREs and large corporations in our Target Market (TM). - Analyze financial statements, business performance, and industry trends to evaluate creditworthiness. - Assess both qualitative and quantitative factors to understand the risk profile of current & potential borrowers in sync with the bank's credit policies and risk appetite. - Conduct in-depth analysis on complex credit transactions, including structured financing, syndicated loans, and trade finance. 2 - Portfolio Management: - Oversee the credit risk management for a diverse corporate loan portfolio, ensuring loans are appropriately structured and within risk appetite. - Work closely with relationship managers to monitor the ongoing health of credit portfolios and recommend necessary action for risk mitigation. - Ensure timely and accurate credit reviews, renewals, and facility management. 3 - Policy and Procedure Development: - Develop, implement, and update credit risk policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain consistency and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. - Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and international banking standards. 4 - Credit Approval Process: - Provide leadership and oversight in the credit approval process, reviewing and presenting credit proposals for senior management's approval. - Provide strategic recommendations on transactions and ensure that credit decisions align with corporate & institutional banking objectives. - Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure that credit documentation and agreements are legally sound. 5 - Risk Management & Mitigation: - Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential losses from credit defaults. - Monitor macroeconomic conditions, industry-specific risks, and borrower-specific factors to anticipate and manage credit risks. - Lead the process of structuring and negotiating credit facilities to minimize risk exposure while meeting the clients financing needs. 6 - Team Leadership and Development: - Lead, mentor, and manage a team of credit analysts, providing guidance on complex credit issues and career development. - Establish performance targets, conduct performance reviews, and promote continuous training and skill enhancement within the team. - Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages high-quality analysis and teamwork. 7 - Stakeholder Engagement: - Act as a key point of contact between corporate banking, senior management, credit dept and other stakeholders on credit risk matters. - Regularly communicate with relationship managers, senior executives, risk managers, and other departments to ensure alignment of credit decisions with business goals. 8 - Reporting and Documentation: - Ensure timely and accurate preparation of credit reports, presentations, and updates for senior management, credit committees, and external auditors. - Maintain comprehensive and well-organized credit files and documentation for each transaction or client relationship. Qualifications and Skills: Education: - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (required). - Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a professional certification (CFA, FRM, etc.) is highly desirable. Experience: - Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate credit analysis, credit risk management, or corporate banking. - Extensive experience in assessing credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management within the corporate banking sector. - Proven track record of managing large and complex corporate lending portfolios, including high-value transactions and structured finance deals. Technical Skills: - Deep understanding of financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment tools, and credit rating methodologies. - Knowledge of corporate banking products, including loans, trade finance, and treasury services. - Familiarity with credit risk software and enterprise risk management tools. Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: - Strong leadership capabilities with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams. - Excellent communication, time management, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to interact with senior executives, clients, and stakeholders. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset. Key Competencies: - Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex financial data and identify key risk factors in credit proposals. - Risk Management: Expertise in managing and mitigating credit risks while balancing business objectives. - Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team of analysts, fostering a high-performance culture. - Client Focus: Ability to understand client needs and deliver credit solutions that align with the bank's risk appetite. - Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in credit assessments and reporting.
