Roles and responsibilities

  • Marine Operations Management:

    • Oversee day-to-day marine operations, ensuring vessels, platforms, and other marine assets are operating efficiently, safely, and within regulatory frameworks.
    • Manage and coordinate the movement of ships and vessels, ensuring that they are operated according to the planned schedules.
    • Ensure that all marine equipment, such as cranes, winches, and other tools, are maintained and operated correctly.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with international maritime laws and regulations, including those set by organizations like the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Marine Safety Administration (MSA), and local regulatory bodies.
    • Implement marine safety protocols to protect crew members, passengers (if applicable), and cargo, and prevent environmental incidents such as spills or accidents.
    • Regularly review safety procedures and ensure that all employees and contractors adhere to them.

  • Crew Management and Development:

    • Manage the recruitment, training, and performance of marine crew members, including captains, engineers, and deck officers.
    • Ensure that all crew members are properly trained, certified, and maintain relevant maritime qualifications (e.g., STCW certification).
    • Foster a culture of safety and professionalism among crew members, encouraging adherence to safety protocols and best practices.

  • Budgeting and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the budget for marine operations, ensuring that costs are controlled and operations remain within financial parameters.
    • Oversee the allocation of resources, including vessels, crew, and equipment, ensuring that all marine operations are well-supported and resourced.
    • Monitor and manage maintenance schedules and procurement of spare parts or new equipment.

  • Fleet Management and Maintenance:

    • Oversee the condition and maintenance of the fleet, ensuring that vessels are regularly inspected and meet classification society requirements.
    • Work with technical teams to schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking to keep the fleet in optimal working condition.
    • Ensure that vessels and offshore platforms are fit for purpose and capable of carrying out their tasks safely and efficiently.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with marine operations, including weather conditions, navigation hazards, crew fatigue, and potential environmental impact.
    • Develop and implement contingency plans for potential emergency scenarios such as oil spills, vessel accidents, or crew injuries.
    • Lead investigations into any incidents or accidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions and ensuring that lessons learned are applied to future operations.

  • Environmental Protection:

    • Ensure that all marine operations adhere to environmental regulations and best practices to prevent pollution and minimize the impact on marine ecosystems.
    • Implement programs to reduce emissions, manage waste disposal, and prevent oil spills and other environmental hazards.
    • Work with regulatory bodies and environmental agencies to ensure compliance with Marine Pollution (MARPOL) regulations and other relevant environmental laws.

  • Contract Management and Vendor Relations:

    • Oversee and manage contracts related to marine operations, such as shipyard services, logistics, and crew hiring.
    • Negotiate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure the best rates, services, and terms for marine operations.
    • Ensure that vendors and contractors comply with safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Reporting and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of all marine operations, including vessel performance, maintenance schedules, crew training, and compliance audits.
    • Prepare and submit reports to senior management on the performance of marine operations, incidents, and safety compliance.
    • Ensure that all required certifications, licenses, and permits are in place and up to date.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, port authorities, clients, and senior management.
    • Represent the marine operations department in meetings, ensuring that operational concerns and achievements are communicated effectively.

  • JOB PURPOSE:
  • Provides leadership role in geotechnical engineering to PMC project team during EXECUTE stage.
  • Provide oversight and checking of marine and coastal engineering for the EPC stage of ADNOC RLNG Project.
  • Ensure EPC Contractor marine and coastal engineering works comply with ADNOC RLNG specifications and schedule, delivering value and cost effective, fit-for-purpose solutions to meet ADNOC RLNG objectives.
  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Marine, Naval Architect or Coastal Engineering

  • 20 years of experience in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industries, preferably with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position on major international LNG terminals, Oil and Gas or Petrochemical projects
