Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the veterinary practice and clinic ensuring that the facility is clean organized and compliant with all health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate the care and treatment of zoo animals ensuring that they receive the highest standard of veterinary care.
  • Schedule and supervise routine health checks vaccinations and treatments for all animals in the park.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health treatment plans medical histories and any procedures performed.
  • Ensure the proper management and administration of veterinary supplies including medicines equipment and consumables.

  • Lead manage and develop a team of veterinarians vet technicians and support staff.
  • Provide training and support to the veterinary team to ensure high standards of care and professionalism.
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts particularly in emergency situations.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive working environment for the team.

  • Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained in accordance with local and international guidelines.
  • Collaborate with animal care teams and wildlife conservation programs to support the health and conservation of animal species in the park.
  • Oversee the management of any animal medical emergencies and collaborate with other departments to ensure that animals are treated promptly and appropriately.

  • Manage the budget for the veterinary practice including supplies medications equipment and staff resources.
  • Monitor and track expenses to ensure the practice stays within budget while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Order and maintain inventory of veterinary supplies and equipment in an efficient and costeffective manner.

  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations and health and safety standards for veterinary practices.
  • Maintain emergency procedures and ensure that the veterinary practice is equipped to handle emergencies including medical crises and animal accidents.
  • Ensure that all documentation and permits related to animal care are uptodate and in compliance with legal requirements.

  • Work closely with senior management and other departments (e.g. animal care education and guest services) to ensure seamless operations and coordination of animal health services.
  • Provide regular reports on animal health trends veterinary treatments and the overall performance of the veterinary practice to senior management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to animal care and medical treatment.

  • Occasionally contribute to educational and outreach programs to raise awareness about animal health conservation and veterinary practices.
  • Participate in the development of educational content for guests and visitors related to the veterinary care of the zoo s animals.


RequirementsQualifications and Skills:
  • Education:

    • Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent).
    • Additional qualifications in business management administration or related fields are a plus.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in veterinary practice with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
    • Experience working in a zoo wildlife or animal care environment is highly desirable.
  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of people including veterinary staff animal care teams and visitors.
    • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
    • Proficient in veterinary management software and standard office applications (Excel Word etc.).
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in veterinary practice.
  • Personal Qualities:

    • Passion for animal welfare and conservation.
    • Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Strong work ethic and the ability to multitask effectively in a fastpaced environment.

  • Working Hours: The position may require flexibility in hours to accommodate emergencies or special events including evenings weekends or holidays.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required
