Land Surveyor

• Site Surveying & Data Collection: Conduct detailed land surveys for underground utilities infrastructure and roadworks, including site measurement, leveling, and mapping. Collect and record topographic, boundary, and construction data as required.
• Underground Utilities Surveys: Perform specific surveys related to underground utilities, including water, sewer, drainage, and electrical systems. Accurately map out existing utilities and provide precise data for installation and relocation works.
• Roadworks Surveying: Assist in surveying and providing data for road construction, alignment, and grading. Ensure proper leveling and reference points are established for road layout, subgrade, and pavement construction.
• Surveying Equipment Operation: Use advanced surveying instruments and tools (e.g., Total Stations, GPS, Leica, AutoCAD, and other surveying software) to carry out field measurements and ensure data accuracy.
• Survey Reports & Documentation: Prepare and submit daily survey reports, including measurements, observations, and discrepancies. Ensure all survey data is recorded accurately and stored in line with project requirements.
• Collaboration with Project Team: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to provide precise survey data and support in executing construction activities in alignment with project specifications.
• Quality Control & Accuracy: Ensure the quality and accuracy of all survey data, addressing any discrepancies and ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
• Assistance with Layout Works: Assist in setting out works for underground utilities and road construction, ensuring all construction is in line with the approved drawings and specifications.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards on-site while conducting surveys, following all relevant safety protocols and procedures.
• Survey Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and proper functioning.
• Liaison with Contractors: Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors, ensuring proper interpretation of survey data and providing assistance in resolving any on-site challenges related to land surveying.

• Education: A Diploma in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Over 6 years of professional surveying experience, with at least 3 years of experience working in the UAE, particularly on underground utilities and roadworks projects.
  • Experience in conducting surveys for underground utilities infrastructure (water, sewer, drainage) and road construction is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using modern surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS systems, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of software like Leica, Survey Pro, or similar tools is advantageous.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic language skills are a plus). Ability to communicate effectively with the project team, contractors, and clients.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection, measurement, and reporting.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve survey-related issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to the project timeline.
• UAE Regulations Knowledge: Familiarity with UAE construction regulations, particularly for underground utilities and road construction projects.
• Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team, providing surveying support to the engineering team and ensuring all project milestones are met.
• Health & Safety Knowledge: Awareness of health and safety standards in surveying and construction environments.

1. Surveying Techniques and Equipment

• Total Station: Proficiency in using total stations to measure angles, distances, and elevations for precise surveys.
• GPS/GNSS Surveying: Using Global Positioning System (GPS) or Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) tools to capture highly accurate location data.
• Leveling Instruments: Knowledge of using levels for determining elevations and establishing horizontal control points.
• Laser Scanning: Experience in using 3D laser scanning technology for detailed, high-precision measurements.
• Theodolites: Ability to use theodolites for measuring horizontal and vertical angles in the field.

2. Mapping and Data Analysis

• Topographic Mapping: Creating detailed maps that show the natural and man-made features of a given area, including elevations, contours, and structures.
• Boundary Surveying: Determining the legal boundaries of a property through field measurements and analysis of historical data.
• Site Surveys: Conducting surveys for construction sites, including the measurement of land slopes, property boundaries, and existing structures.
• Data Analysis: Interpreting and analyzing data collected from surveys to produce accurate reports, maps, and plans.
• Geospatial Data: Experience in working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data and integrate survey results into larger datasets.

3. Legal and Regulatory Knowledge

• Property Law and Boundaries: In-depth understanding of property law, legal descriptions, and boundary determination, including easements, encroachments, and land rights.
• Land Use and Zoning: Familiarity with zoning regulations and land use codes that affect the boundaries and usage of properties.
• Survey Standards and Codes: Knowledge of local, state, and national standards for land surveying, such as those outlined by professional organizations (e.g., NSPS, ACSM).

4. Mathematics and Geometry

• Trigonometry: Strong understanding of trigonometric principles to calculate distances, angles, and elevations accurately.
• Coordinate Geometry: Ability to work with coordinate systems and perform calculations to determine points, areas, and lines on a survey map.
• Error Correction: Ensuring the accuracy of measurements and identifying discrepancies to correct errors in data collection and interpretation.

5. Technical Skills and Software

• Surveying Software: Proficiency in specialized surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, MicroStation, Leica, Trimble) for data analysis, modeling, and map generation.
• CAD (Computer-Aided Design): Familiarity with CAD software for drafting and preparing precise drawings of survey results.
• Geodesy: Understanding of geodetic principles and techniques for measuring and representing the Earth's surface.

6. Fieldwork and Site Management

• Field Surveying: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions to collect data using the appropriate surveying tools.
• Safety Protocols: Knowledge of field safety standards and practices to ensure the well-being of the survey team while working on construction sites or hazardous terrain.
• Team Leadership: Supervising and coordinating a team of field surveyors to gather data and ensure accuracy in measurements.

• Accuracy: Precision in measurements, data collection, and reporting is crucial for producing reliable survey results.
• Quality Control: Ensuring the correctness and integrity of all survey data and reports, often through checks, validations, and reconciliations.
