We are a globally focused organization committed to maintaining accurate, connected, and reliable technology information across complex IT environments. Our teams collaborate across IT Operations, Infrastructure, Applications, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Service Management, Architecture, Asset Management, and business functions to ensure technology services are supported by trustworthy configuration and dependency data. Our technology-management teams use configuration data, service models, automation, discovery, governance, and analytics to improve operational visibility, incident resolution, change management, risk management, and technology decision-making. The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior CMDB Specialist to lead the governance, administration, optimization, data quality, service modeling, discovery, reconciliation, and continuous improvement of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The ideal candidate will ensure the CMDB provides an accurate and reliable representation of configuration items, relationships, services, dependencies, ownership, and lifecycle information across infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, networks, and other technology assets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement CMDB strategies, policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks. Establish CMDB objectives aligned with IT service-management, configuration-management, asset-management, cybersecurity, and operational requirements. Define and maintain CMDB data models, configuration-item classes, attributes, relationships, and lifecycle states. Establish configuration-item identification and classification standards. Define ownership requirements for configuration items and configuration data. Maintain accurate records for servers, applications, databases, network devices, cloud resources, services, endpoints, platforms, and other technology components. Develop and maintain service configuration models and service maps. Ensure critical business services have appropriate underlying technology relationships documented. Configure and optimize automated discovery processes. Manage discovery schedules, scopes, credentials, data sources, and discovery patterns where applicable. Monitor discovery results and identify incomplete, duplicate, inaccurate, or conflicting configuration information. Establish reconciliation and identification rules to maintain a reliable single source of truth. Integrate CMDB data with asset-management, discovery, monitoring, cloud-management, endpoint-management, vulnerability-management, and service-management platforms. Coordinate CMDB integrations with enterprise applications and technology-management systems. Monitor data imports, transformation rules, mappings, and integration failures. Investigate and resolve CMDB data synchronization issues. Establish data-quality standards covering completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, and validity. Develop automated CMDB data-quality checks and exception reporting. Monitor CMDB data-quality metrics and identify recurring data issues. Coordinate remediation of inaccurate, incomplete, duplicated, orphaned, or stale configuration records. Identify configuration items that are missing ownership, lifecycle status, criticality, or relationship information. Maintain CMDB reconciliation and data-cleansing processes. Establish controls to prevent unauthorized or unmanaged configuration items from entering production environments without appropriate records. Coordinate with Configuration Management teams to maintain approved configuration baselines. Ensure configuration changes are reflected accurately in the CMDB following approved change activities. Establish controls linking configuration items to change, incident, problem, release, and service-request records. Support change-management teams with accurate configuration and dependency information. Assess the CMDB impact of infrastructure changes, application deployments, migrations, cloud adoption, and technology transformations. Support incident and problem-management teams by providing accurate configuration and service‑dependency information. Use CMDB data to support root‑cause analysis and impact assessment. Support major‑incident management by providing service, infrastructure, application, and dependency information. Identify configuration relationships that may represent single points of failure or operational risk.
