Electrical Cable Design Engineer – HV Company: GOPA Consulting Group (GOPA Tech) – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Role Overview: Join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi to design and specify high‑performance HV/EHV cable systems, drive innovation, and support our clients with technical expertise. About the Role As our HV Cable Design Engineer, you will design, analyze, and document cable systems, ensure compliance with international standards, collaborate across functions, and lead R&D projects. What You’ll Do Design & Analysis: Create HV/EHV cable systems, perform complex electrical and mechanical calculations for optimal performance. Compliance & Documentation: Adhere to IEEE, IEC, ICEA standards; produce and maintain technical data sheets and Bills of Materials. Collaboration & Support: Partner with manufacturing teams to implement designs; provide technical support to sales, marketing, and customers; assist with tenders and proposals. Testing & Innovation: Oversee cable testing procedures and drive R&D projects to develop next‑generation cable solutions. Software & Tools: Use industry‑leading design software (CYMCAP, Comsol Multiphysics, AutoCAD) and MS Office suite. Background That Convincing Us Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Experience: Proven experience in HV cable design, power transmission, and distribution. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of underground power transmission and cable materials. Software Skills: Proficient in CYMCAP, Comsol, AutoCAD, and MS Office. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem‑solving abilities.
